This is my 1986 LX Coupe with T-tops. I have had this for 4 years slowly building it. It was originally built to handle my 600hp 418w, which was briefly in it, but never on the road. I have sold the big engine and TKO600 and tuned the drivetrain down, the rest of the system is setup to hold some power. This car is titled as a 2.3 5-speed, which it originally was. 116k on the chassis per Carfax (which I can provide). I had a donor 86 5.0 that I replaced every wire into this car. This is a factory no option car. No A/C, no power locks, nothing. I did add power windows when I was building it, I prefer not to lean over to roll down the passenger window. You can change the heater core in this car by simply opening the glove box (which I did, it's new as well). I did replace the floor pans, typical t-top issue, welded them in and seam sealed. The entire underside was then undercoated. The car was then soda blasted, and painted 2011 Kona Blue. There is no rust on this chassis now. There is some oxidation on the aluminum and iron parts (k-member, rack and pinion etc) from time sitting in my concrete shop, could easily come off if desired. The windshield washer pump need to be replaced, it's a $20 part. Also the heater fan speed only works on low, I think it's a resistor. The crappy Hurst shifter handle vibrates some above 70mph, I'd replace it with a more quality piece. That's the only things worth mentioning, other than the abundance of upgrades this car has. Here's a brief list from the top of my head.

Body : 1986 T-top coupe, last year made, VERY few made. Never wrecked. Paint is Kona Blue (2011 GT500). Paint is 8/10, my body man is going to buff it in two weeks. It will be a 9/10 then I would assume. Cervini cowl hood, fiberglass deck lid. Fenders are 91+ and extensions are custom, to fit larger 17"-18" wheels. LED headlights.

Interior : GT style seats with new black leather upholstery. All interior is original black (from an 84 or with 90+ pieces). Rare 140 mph speedometer, ABS plastic headliner board (expensive, not cheap cardboard), new package tray, black pony floormats, new CD/MP3/Aux/USB radio with all new speakers and wired for a subwoofer if so desired. Rare A/C deleted dash bezel. Brand new black dash pad.

Drivetrain : Fresh 302 (rings, bearings, seals, etc), GT40 iron heads, 93 Cobra intake (painted Kona Blue), B303 camshaft. MSD Distributor, 3G alternator, March bracketry. BBK long tube headers, BBK offroad X-pipe, Pype Bomb M80 mufflers with 2.5" tailpipes. T5 is freshly gone through, has a Hurst shifter with billet handle and stock knob. FRPP aluminum driveshaft.

Suspension : Team Z 1" drop K-member and tubular A-arms, Front coilovers with aluminum caster camber plates, SN95 Front spindles and brakes, Mark VIII Master Cylinder, 93 Cobra brake booster, Wilwood rear proportioning valve. 8.8 Rear end with Moser 31 spline axles, Auburn LSD, aluminum girdle, 3.27 gears. North Racecars rear disc brackets with SN95 rear disc brakes. Double adjustable upper control arms, Megabite Jr. lower control arms. Koni / Griggs rear coil overs. Subframe connectors with seat braces. Flaming River manual rack and steering shaft.

Wheels : Original wheels from my 03 Cobra, with like new 295/50/17s in the rear, and I believe 235s in the front.

Misc : 4-row aluminum radiator with aluminum cover. Focus fan with temperature control on a relay. Headlights on relays also. New battery, relocated to trunk. Every piece of weatherstripping on this car is new. 255 LPH Walbro pump (I've had this same pump support 676 rwhp, so is good for a lot more than this car is make at the moment). Tri-bar SVO steering wheel.

Looking to sell outright for $8,900. For the price of the parts in it, you're buying those and getting the car for free. Think back if you've ever seen a t-top coupe in person, it's highly unlikely, this is a rare car. I will entertain PARTIAL (very partial) trades on a rolling chassis foxbody for my 14 year old son and I to build for his first car. I would trade to a Marauder, my trae value is higher than the cash price listed. Maybe other MINOR partial trades. Only selling to free up some cash to pay some bills. Everything on this car other than the chassis has about 100 miles on it, the engine, transmission, drive train etc.

(since these pics, I've added the stock engine airbox, and the tailpipes are now welded on)

ahhh the good ol 4 eyes...best looking foxbodies imo. I built me an 1986 GT back in HS. paid 1900 for it and raced the crap out of it bone stock. Then timing chain started leaking water. What was suppose to be just buying a new timing chain cover turned into a complete rebuild of motor and trans and paint job lol all thanks to a friend of mine who came over and said "since u have to tear down your whole front of the motor might as well rebuild it" and so it began...beautiful car sir!! I cannot remember the last time I saw a T-Top Mustang. Just wow. Too bad we'll likely never see a return of this with the safety mandates of vehicles.

Yeah, I'll be surprised if they actually make V8s after a few more years.. The new Ford GT gets a sixxer, I can't see the lesser cars getting anything bigger. We shall see.
