Hello all! first night on here. I'm very happy to say that i'm finally a marauder owner!
two questions:
!) I feel i got really lucky. My marauder was a 1 owner car (came with the original title) the car is in almost perfect condition, as much as body and interior go. but it does have alot of miles, and i bought it with the engine knocking. I gave $1000. I feel i did good, because this is one of my dream cars i probably never could had afforded otherwise haha. Did i get a deal, or was i ripped? ( i feel i did, my the lil lady doesn't quite agree haha)
2) Previously mentioned knocking engine. As i mentioned, i feel very lucky getting the car for a thousand. but i'm not in a position to buy a new engine. Just a little to steep for my wallet right now. So, to my question. I have a friend with a gt mustang 4.6 sohc that he has laying around, would i run into any issues putting all my dohc parts onto the sohc short block?

Why not start by finding what is making the noise. By the way you stole it for that price! What color?

From what I can tell from your picture it is one nice looking ride! You got a heck of a deal! It is hard to say what is wrong with it without being there to hear the engine. You might see if there is a member close to you that could take a look at it. Good luck!

I'm 99% sure it's a rod knocking. At least that's what I would say if it was an old push rod engine I'm more used to. It won't even start now. Just turns over. got hot and quit.
I'm wanting to rebuild the stock block, but I'm on a budget. Ya, car projects and budgets usually don't go hand in hand, but what can ya do haha.
That's why I brought up that mustang gt 4.6. I think it's an 02/03. If I could drop that in with the dohc parts and have the car running while I take my time to rebuild the original block right, that would make my day. That or I could get a real reasonable short block outta a crown Vic. They basically give those away around here

This would be your best bet with just a few marauder parts swapped over.

I have no idea about the mustang block, noone has ever done it here.

Try searching4.6 sohc to dohc
It sounds like it's possible to do the sohc to dohc, since you have all the good dohc stuff just swap over to the other

I've done alot of web searching, and the sohc short block 4.6 swap seems feasible. Not quite up to par with the marauder block, but feasible haha.

Drop the motor, have a machine shop clean and true the crank and do some bearings and call it a day. Numbers matching too.

That's what I'm hoping to do. I'd love to keep it numbers matching

+1 - budget friendly and take your time. It will be fresh and still original. nice score! don't mess it up with a Frankenstein motor job.

There is no matching numbers on the blocks of these cars.

04 black ... light grey ... seats.
One of the rarer combinations

While that is true, it would be truthful as the 'original' engine to rebuild it.
One of the rarer combinations
and black, light flint, heated seats, moonroof, I'd want it original ;)

I used an 09 gt shortblock with my dohc
I called mmr for some input, they said as long as I was running stock cams I was good to go. It's boosted with 413rwhp over.
Oh and yes sir, you did real good :2thumbs:

Using a stock 2v short block with 4v heads makes for a very low compression ratio.

Opportunity for some high boost!
