My newest addition had the front plate bracket installed. I'm thinking about removing it. What can I do to fix the mounting holes? I really don't want to replace the bumper cover.

Pull it off and see how the paint and holes look. On my wife's car I put small black push pins in the holes. However my blue someone really screwed up the bumper cover when the front plate holder was pop riveted in, so it stayed.

I guess I could paint my spare front cover and just swap it out. Seems like a lot of work.

My other ones were brand new and the front bracket was in the trunk. One of the dealers was about to install it, I stopped him just in time. Why would anybody screw up a front bumper cover like that in a state that doesn't even require a front plate? Nuts.

I bought 8uwith6s wife car awhile back

It has those black plastic pieces inserted in the holes where the plate belongs, it's a cheap alternative

My state requires both plates, i never drill the front bumper, crazy to ruin a nice bumper

Sux. I'm in Indiana, but found my car in Illinois. Guess what? Front plate bracket. Dang. I was thinking about looking for a cool plate to put in it, but I like the little plastic cap idea. My car's black, so it may just work.

Take it to a body shop and have them weld the holes. When they're done you shouldn't be able to tell there were even holes. Requires painting the bumper cover which in the long run probably needs it anyways. 2 birds

My car had a Crown Victoria bracket on it when I bought which was all torn up and cracked in the corners. I replaced it with a brand new Marauder bracket and when I took it off I saw underneath is a real mess, there are at least 6 sets of holes, some of them badly torn and the paint is completely ruined and cracked but I need a front plate anyway so I don't think it's worth fixing.

So they can put a damn "Dealer Ad Tag" on it....they almost did mine too!!:argue::mad2:

I told them I was not going to advertise for them for FREE and would consider it if they paid me to do so......installation stopped immediately!!:D

I did the same thing before I picked up my MM in 2004. Told the dealership that if they wanted to put any advertising on the car they'd have to reduce the price by 10K, since I charge 1K a year for advertisement space!

Fortunately in North Carolina a front plate isn't required so my front bumper is free of any extra holes.

Actually other than the bracket it's perfect, only 15k miles.

The little black plugs would work ok if it was black, but since it's a silver car they wouldn't match too good. Maybe paint them?

Maybe some silver RTV would look ok?

That's what I did.

Bought a pack of plugs from the local auto parts store, used touch-up paint to paint the tops black before installing them, and pushed them into the holes. It's only noticeable up close and doesn't look bad.
