I am a new member here but just got a 2003 Mercury Mariner from insurance auction (American Family Insurance). It had listing pics (incl below) that showed the left rear wheel detached (by force) with minor body damage nearby. I went to inspect it the day before auction and they weren't letting anyone in the yard(long story). It has 117K miles and autocheck shows 4 owners. They list it doesn't have keys but they did open doors for pictures. I will inspect it tomorrow to get a closer inspection and verify key situation but I have only a few days to move it so time is of the essence. Car is located in Markham, IL (I am in Chicago). I do have a flat bed trailer but I want to make sure if they load it on I will be able to get it off. If someone has their own trailer to pick up that will be better (and cheaper). I will update this listing as I gather more info.

Because of damage and limited info I am selling it for 2300.

Any questions contact Joe at 773 879 zero681 or rowekmr(@).com

Happy Holidays!

UPDATE: The yard will not let anyone enter after auction day (strange) and since I couldn't go see it on preview day I can't verify anything. I'm no stranger with buying sight unseen it is part of the business that is why it is wholesale.

If it had 4 tires I would pick it up then look it over and buyer could get it from my flatbed (it tilts) but since this can't roll and I have a nice wood deck I will leave it there until buyer picks up unless buyer has a safe way to remove it from my trailer without damage. It's paid for and ready for pick up. The yard is open Mon-Fri only closed this Fri the 25th and it has to be picked up by the 29th otherwise $40 daily late fee.

lji372 Yeah I know but I have a mobile service that can come out and cut/program them for less but in both situations it cost $. I am trying to keep the prices down with no overhead.

Toomanytoys Give me a call this would be an excellent addition to your collection.

For anyone contemplating getting it road worthy each state has its own requirements for a rebuilt title (which can be registered and insured) but here in IL if it passes a simple DOT inspection my business partner who is a IL licensed rebuilder can do the title conversion for $200. It paperwork and affidavits he has to fill out then the title has to be sent into Springfield and a new one sent back that will be signed over. Just an option because I thought it was a perfect parts car but many ask about repairing it.

Another Update:
Previous owner contacted me. Car was parked in front of his house and struck by a smaller sedan contacting the rear wheel causing direct damage to wheel, axle and the front suspension from contacting the curb. He started the engine after the accident after depressing inertia switch so its still running fine. He was the 3rd owner and bought from older gentleman who had it for 5-6 years. When he bought the car the engine was ticking and he spent 900 replacing the timing chain. Also for anyone who needs transportation his family has a flat bed tow truck also.

Merry Xmas!

I got to inspect it today during a ice storm. The left rear axle is broken off. I couldn't tell any damage on the front wheels. The interior is in excellent condition with no tears, rips or burns. The left rear door is stuck but mostly closed. I started the car and engine idled smooth and straightened the front wheels with the steering wheel. This yard loads vehicles with a huge front end loader with forks so getting it on will be no problem. I think if someone straps a dolly with some wood to raise the rear axle that it will also roll off a flat bed no problem.
