Just wanna share with you all. How I did my headlights fog and tail lights. Instead of using VHT Nights Shade paint on your cars. I did mines with lights paper spoke 35% tint. And when I get tired of the look. I will peel it off. And my lights go back to stock. My window tinter did them for me

MOTOWN And the best thing is. There legal 35%. And NYC Cops don't bother me. And when I get tired of the look. I will peel it off the lights. And it goes back to stock bud.

Doesn't matter if the tint film you applied is 35%, tinting or covering any light emitting (headlight/taillight) is illegal in any state. The cops don't bother you about it because they simply do not care to waste their time with just that.
I have my taillights painted with body color paint, completely illegal here in MD but would a cop bother to write me a ticket for just that? Nope, they would go after my exhaust first which they have. lol
The front does look good darkened up.

Must have amber reflectors from side up front and red reflectors at rear side/ back. Looks good but not truly legal . Get in a traffic violation once and see what is said then. It may not be a pullover offense by itself like seatbelt laws once were but now they can pull you over for just that

It is legal here in NYC. Everybody has there cars done just like mine. As for light I have LED bulbs all over the car. And in the interior too. But if you all want to rant about it is legal. Or not it is not what I put this thread up. It to show you all. That you don't have to get another set of lights. And spray them with a can of VHT Tint spay paint. You can do them like this. Save money and energy taking your lights off. Then buying a can of VHT and spaying them. And on and on.

Do you have any pics of the LED lights, specifically interior LED? Always like to see what some members have done. Thinking about upgrading to LED myself.

I would have to take a picture of the interior LED at night. But I have a night picture of my car parked. With my LED High and low beam Headlights. And my HID Bulbs on my Fogger lights. And my LED side marker lights. That you all can see in the the picture I posted. And as you all can see. In the picture with my lights 35% tinted. It is still super bright at night. I can see the future ! Lol

Show me the traffic code law that says it is legal to tint headlights marker lights and tail lights. Find. NY law that states this

Once again I will say it. I didn't post this. For you to be asking me if it is legal or not RubberCtyRauder. I care two cents. About your opinion. It is just like a ***. Everybody has one. I haven't gotten messed with in NYC and CT NJ or PA. So have a good one. As I said this is posted. For all who want to tint there lights. And don't have to buy. A VHT can. And ruin there stock lights. Or buy ORM lights. To paint them.

You can't prove it is legal. Don't care you have never been messed with. Fine for giving a alternative to VHT buy don't say it is legal unless you can back it up. Your tune is illegal and so is mine and you don't even know why.

I've decided I'm tinting whipple car front lights and nightshade a coat or two on tail lights. Maybe not that dark but none the less.
Throwing on black pvd too. Should look pretty sick :2thumbs:
The only lights seen will be the red and blue when I get pulled over :D

Bad S55 not really. Just that let's be real. Instead of not saying anything. If you don't have anything nice to say. He starts saying it is not legal. Like he lives in NYC. 35% tint is legal in NYC. Anything darker you are getting a fine. But he wants me to get. The information to make him happy. So for that I am clueless. Yea okay then. Lol

Down here they will light you up!!! Tail lights need to be reflective, as well nothing can be over the headlights.

New York State Tint Info:
Windshield: Non-reflective tint on the top 6 inches of the windshield is allowed.
Front Side Windows: Must allow more than 70% of light in.
Back Side Windows on Sedans: Must allow more than 70% of light in. On SUVs: Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window: Any darkness can be used.
Don't see 35% there.
New York does have several other important laws, rules and regulations pertaining to window tinting. They include the following:
Side Mirrors: Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
Restricted Colors: No colors of tint are explicitly banned by New York tint laws.
Certificates: Film manufacturers are not required to certify the film they sell in this state.
Stickers: The sticker to identify legal tinting is required between the film & glass on each tinted window.
New York's tint laws may be found in Section 375 (12-a) of the Vehicle and Traffic consolidated laws. The window tint laws in New York state were last amended in 1991 and are among the most severe of any state.
What you are failing to understand is and the reason why I even spoke up and speaking up again is you can't go around saying it's legal just because "it's 35%". That ONLY applies to the WINDSHIELD and WINDOWS, not headlights and taillights just because you put a certain % film on it does not make it legal.
None of us really care if it is legal or illegal as a good amount of us have what can be classified by laws as illegal equipment (I've got HIDs in my headlights and body color matched paint on my taillights which is illegal here in MD even though you can clearly see the red reflective part and emits a red light, not a tinted red light), but what you are saying is making you look stupid (not calling you that but you're presenting yourself that way) when saying it.
In New York STATE (which NYC falls under) any modification to the tail lights is illegal and ticketable. Most people think about the light taillights produce at night but what they fail to understand is that during high noon on a BRIGHT sunny day it will be harder to see when a taillight is illuminated that's been tinted.

Not my MM, I think its another member's. Had to screenshot just in case I ever want to add stripes.
By the way don't judge me, but been trying to tint my lens for the last 2hrs, But forgot to take off clear wrap. Haven't didn't tint since my younger days. Man I'm getting old. Smh lol [emoji28] will get them done sunday.
We'll see if cops mess with me or not. There's a hand full of cars around where I live with tinted lens. If they do guess I will just have to buy new ones

Ok!
First off, legal vs illegal... Let's simply understand it is illegal. Not worried about getting pulled over for THIS, but certainly a nice add to another ticket (speeding, etc), so one woul certainly end up with two tickets.
The REAL issue is this: IF someone rear ended you hard, and totaled both cars and people were injured... And your back lights were purpusly "covered", "obscured", or "masked" in anyway... As such that diminishes reflective or illumanitive stock values, and Even though I am against all frivolous lawsuits, You could be rightfully sued into oblivion.
That said, I think it looks awesome! I'd like to see a 15% version-- I think 15% would look great and still stock like. Silver would look sick with 15%!
Also love the flat black stripes in Above photo. I want these!
