Anyone had a look at the knock sensor readings on Autotap for their '03 Marauder?
I initially had some difficulty finding the KS parameter to select in the software. When I did select it for monitoring, the values and the method used to report the info are unlike anything I'm used to, on GM cars.
On all the GM cars I've messed with, the KS only shows a change once there has been an instance of detected spark knock. This is visible in the accumulated spark knock counts, which bump up one by one as the KS('s) detect knock. No change in KS counts, no knock.
On my MM, I get a varying number in the 20s at all times at idle, and it seems to change with RPM and load. Going WOT, the number seems to climb into the 200s. Best I can figure it is: the knock sensor is detecting noise which is obviously present from the engine's normal operation, and obviously it gets noisier with load and RPM... so I guess there has to be some algorithm that looks at the increasing numbers and somehow determines when there really is an instance of spark knock.
