Wow, those are more expensive than the ones I'm looking at. Nice looking though.
With the price of forged wheels so high, anybody ever have their wheels shot with a few coats of clear to protect the finish? If I spring for the ones I want, I may try this.

You can clear them, there is a specific process and specific material, particularly the water based adhesion promoter that is required. I re-cleared a set, $500 in materials alone.
The next set I PVD chromed, they look much better than the polished and cleared wheels, around $800 to PVD a set with ahipping.

I misunderstood your intent. I apologize.
I listened because patience was shown in pm discussions and BRG Racing agreed lowering the car and 20" wheels were essential for traction and handling.
Oh, and the snack was funny.

I was surprised at the difference 20" wheels and low profile tires made, especially the improvement in ride.
What widths and offsets did you order?

20 x 9.3 (fronts) and 20 x 10.0 (rears). Sound familiar?
Now I wait for the new Nitto 555s.

Thank you for the reminder. You can probably guess, I did not fill out the order form:
http://www.forgeline.com/wheel_fitment.php
BRG Racing took all the measurements and ordered the wheels. I did share several threads from our forum on member wheel and tire setup. Specifically, the threads covering max backspace clearance (I recall 10.6" but I stayed with 10" for the rear).
BRG Racing knows I feel more comfortable when experience herein is considered. This is the home of real-world application (the Panther experts).

Yes, because that will mean engine and transmission installed, rear differential and master rebuild kit complete, new 31 spline rear axles, new Brembo brakes, and much more.

Just as a point of reference, the front offset I used is the stock 50mm and the rear offset is 59mm. The fronts barely touch the plastic inner fenderwells under full lock turns in the parking lot if the suspension gets compressed just right. It hasn't even left a rub mark so I am not quite sure exactly where it touches. So I think the fronts are good and probably shouldn't go any wider.
In the rear the tire is about 1/4" from the shock boot on the inside, and the outer edge of the wheel is 5/8" further outboard. This works fine for fender clearance (even lowered) when you don't have the factory-style tire sidewall bulging significantly beyond the wheel width. Not to mention vertical sidewalls let the tires work their best in the corners.
As for tires, I am impressed with the Pirelli P-Zeroes in my signature. Combined with the suspension upgrades they generate more corning force than I could have ever imagined. No word on life expectancy yet as I only have 3K miles on them, but they seem to be doing OK so far. (In my best Wil-E Coyote voice) they are soooooppperrr sticky .

Has your hired gun (BRG) confirmed caliper to spoke clearance? This is typically the fitment issue in the front, although I imagine most expensive aftermarket wheels are expecting to clear real calipers.

Yes. The front are the concern with 15" rotors. The rears are 14".

Do you know this for fact or is it just a seat of the pants feel? Did you before and after times at say Sonoma? Just curious, not trying to stir the pot. :)

That is a legitimate question. No, I don't have before/after lap times at Sonoma or even a G-meter off the smart phone. I suppose I could make the effort to record some objective measurements. I do actually intend to run some events on racetracks once the Ford 9" is installed. The current axle is OK for driving, but the noisy bearings make me unwilling to hammer it at the track.
That said, the ol' butt dyno does let you know what is happening, and it is pretty easy to notice when the difference is so great. I mean, I'm bracing myself to try and stay seated behind the steering wheel (even with the reupholstered seat lowers with added bolstering), and I can no longer leave the phone wedged in the cupholder or it will go flying across the car like a missile when I take a corner too enthusiastically. :D

Yes the engine would have to be rebuilt first with new crank/rods/pistons. But it still runs good at 140K miles . . . Probably won't happen this year after the brake, wheel and axle upgrade consumed the car funds for a while. :D
