Hi:

Thanks for adding me to the forum.

As a recent retiree, I guess that I'm supposed to buy myself a new Honda Civic and - going slow in the fast lane - drive off into the sunset. Not happening. I've determined that a Mercury Marauder is likely my perfect anti-"old-man-in-hat" ride, and am starting a search for an MM (preferably Blue or Maroon) so as not to go "quietly into that dark night" (Rumbling Borlas to accompany David Lindley's version of "Mercury Blues"?). This group seems to be a great resource to inform and support my dream.

Welcome to the forum. My wife and I plan top be in Vancouver this summer when we transfer from the cross Canada train tour to the Coral Princess, for our Alaska cruise. As we get closer to the date (Aug 3rd) perhaps we can arrange meeting up.

Speaking of which, It is Dark Toreador Red (DTR), not maroon. Enjoy the site like I have.

Sure, let's do that. August is usually a very good time, weather-wise, to visit the "Wet Coast". My wife and I could perhaps help you escape a few of the usual "tourist traps" - although some of those ARE actually pretty cool.

Welcome, definitely would recommend a car bring sold by a member here if possible as most here seem to take care if them well abd others might be able to vouch even further. Maybe list up some parameters as it might be hard to find a Vancouver one. Price range? Mileage range ? Modifications? All stock? Some mods? Canada version? His far willing go travel to buy ? Willing to buy USA and bring or ship to Canada?

Thanks much for the advice, those are all things which will certainly be considered and included in my Project Plan "moving forward" (an overused phrase from the old, corporate day job, but still rather useful). I'm very early on in my "Unicorn Hunt". My possible "ace" with this project is that my wife has family in Miami FL. Her nephew is rather a "car guy" and is going to watch the local market for me. He just got himself a beautiful, estate sale, Grand Marquis to haul his growing family around in (that's what got me considering the Panther platform as a project car). The "big idea" would be to fly down and visit the family, buy a local Marauder, and then road trip it home across "America the Beautiful" (it really is, you know). There usually aren't too many major changes needed with American cars being imported into Canada these days - some of them actually having been assembled here in the first place!

Marauders were assembled in St Thomas Ontario, so you are right about that part. What I meant mainly was a Km vs mph speedometer. There is a highly modified one forsale in FL right now. Wish I could buy it

Welcome to the Modness!! Good luck in locating your car. There is a get together in Louisville, Kentucky in April 13th to the 17th. It is posted in this forum. There is usually a good turnout for this and quite a few modified cars to see. Look forward to meeting you at a future event.:banana2:

And also a group of fun NorCal Marauder owners too! If we can get Mebot to land Marauderville 14 in Seattle or Portland --with a tour to the coast... We can all meet up in early September.

Mebot???? Or maybe just a West Coast meet????

Welcome to the site. Don't buy a MM from Miami!!! Them boys down there do all kinds of shady fixer uppers. Like changing numbers or soldering 2 1/2 of a car together. I know I'm from East Hialeah, be cautious. The experts here will help you.

Things have changed a bit since '77 but it's still a lovely place to live. I'm very fortunate.
