OEM Trans Cooler Lines.....

Which one is which......inlet/outlet???:confused:

I ran over some debris yesterday and pulled some twigs out of my extra cooler and it was crazy COOL while the trans fluid temp was 180*........huh??:eek:

I'm pretty sure I installed the extra cooler on the outlet side of the OEM cooler so how the heck can it be cool with the trans fluid HOT!!!??:cool:

Passengers side line is output.

I installed My second cooler with the lines running thru it first making sure it's ALWAYS working, rather than waiting for the factory one to turn on first to make them both "work". Had zero issues so far with this set up.

The one that is hottest is coming from the tranny.

with out having a reference point as to which is which, its difficult to say. typically, I just follow the top line and tap into that to add aux coolers.

re-reading your post, you might want to check/replace the OEM cooler thermostat if trans fluid is staying higher than normal.

BTW, 180 degrees for fluid is in the acceptable range

I've had the second cooler in place for years and pretty sure it is after the OEM one but was really shocked when the lines to it were cool to the touch when the ScanGauge was showing 180* fluid temperature??:confused:

Can the fluid in the cooler be that cold and still be that hot in the trans??:eek:

BTW......the line marked "IN" is the upper one on the OEM cooler!!

Negative... the thermostat is soldered into the cooler lines at the front of the AC condenser. However the TFT sensor, where his scan gauge is most likely getting the fluid temp reading from, is built into the transmission harness.

If you have a ScanGauge II just install the "XGauge" command codes for the parameters you wish to monitor!!:beer:

You will get a different temp reading if you look at the scan gauge, as opposed to a temp sensor at the bottom of the pan.

Isn't the 'thermostat' you pictured called a thermostatic bypass?

Can the stat be removed and put back together or is it an assembly behind the C clip that includes the O ring seal and cap?
