Hey guys, people have been saying what is "that car"?
Well I tell you they know now thanks to heavy ads for the all new 300 series by Chrysler.I was told by a Ford salary employee that the market is saturated for the Maruader this is why it is going to be discontinued.Well, maybe, but there are tons of people out of the woods buying 300C's right now.I don't fully understand?
I know we've chatted about advertising here before but what is Ford thinking sometimes with their own ads?I hardly watch TV at all really and have seen 2 adds in the last 2 years for the Panther platform and one of those ads for the Marauder was on a car show.
I personally think Ford sits and waits for things to go wrong before they do anything about it(ie.Slow Panther Sales).Besides, why would they do anything when they are making huge bucks from their trucks and SUV's.Neglecting cars for the years (Big 3) has simply made the Jap's & Koreans more popular. Now even as a Ford employee am I suppose to feel sad for Ford and hate the competition, including General Motors & Chrysler?

I hated those recent commercials with that song by Randy Newman. Wasn't it like "Look again" or something? Bleh.

What happened to those "Driven a Ford Lately" commercials from the '80's and '90's. Those commercials were awesome. Those commercials made me want to go buy a Mustang or T-Bird and drive the heck out of it. They retro the hell out of their designs, why not retro the advertising that worked from the past? "McFly! McFly!"

Yesterday While watching a Law & Order:SVU marathon on USA I saw at least 10 300C commercials in 4 hours. :mad2:

I am very enthusiastic about Ford's upcoming lineup. Properly marketed, and provided they have decent build quality, I think Ford may have some hits coming. While Ford has lost some market share to the imports, I hope these future vehicles help regain that back as Ford is my favorite car company. The upcoming Five-Hundred looks great, although it's sad the Duratec 35 motor will not be available till the 2nd model year run of that car. The fact you'll be able to get either a CVT or 6 speed automatic combined with optional AWD will be great, considering that combination isn't offered on any competing vehicles in it's class.

Speaking of advertising, anyone willing to help me make a vid like this of the Marauder?

That car suddenly became very good looking to me after watching that video. Won't ever buy one, but I see the car in a whole new way now.

Ford are schmucks when it comes to advertising.

They concentrate their advertising on vehicles that everyone & their entire family tree is already FULLY AWARE of.

In addition to the fact the MM never got a fair shot at the typical TV advertising(commercials) ...

They should have approached the big shots for well known & watched TV shows in which there are a lot of scenes with the main character & their vehicle.

A good example -

The Sopranos.

There's almost always a couple of scenes in every episode, that show Tony in his Suburban(this season - now's it's an Escalade).

Imagine this -

An episode where Tony goes to a LM dealer ... wanting to trade in his Suburban for a Navigator rather than an Escalade .....

Strolls into the showroom & immediately becomes "smitten" at something that catches his eye. No not some sales lady(remember the psycho Mercedes sales girl ?)... but some big - gleaming - sleek black car he had no idea even existed ... & just HAS to have it.

For ONCE, his obsession & lust at first sight for something he just HAS to have & refuses to deny himself of ...... could have been for a CAR instead of yet ANOTHER woman.

Ford could have GIVEN the show a few MM's for NOTHING ... just to get some hype & exposure going on them. Probably would have been money WELL spent.

When Ford redesigned the CV/GMs in '98, they advertised them, and they sold well. By the end of '99 they basically stopped advertising CVs, and guess what? Sales started declining annually.
I've seen very few, although some, ads for Grand Marquis. Guess what? Ford sells more Grand Marquis to people (not counting fleet sales) than CVs.
Does it have anything to do with advertising?

Ford's advertising of the Marauder was a complete joke.

My $0.04: I agree, Ford's marketing is abysmal. I do like that Ford has sponsored the excellent TV drama, "24", and litters each episode with tons (LITERALLY) of Ford Explorers and Ford Expeditions (unfortunately, the show also had to "cast" a few H2 Hummers in recent episodes for script reasons). A cool scene in a mid-season episode, the main character steals a BEAUTIFUL cobalt blue Mustang GT and leaves the scene with lots of rubber left on the asphalt!

It's also cool that Ford offers X-Plan pricing programs to the entertainment industry. Thanks to their product placement program through NBC, I qualified for X-Plan pricing when I bought my Marauder.

Well, Meadow and Finn are driving a Mustang, though it's got a big dent on the fender and is usually dirty.

How about Men in Black? The first car was a Ford Crown Vic, then they switched to a Mercedes for the sequel. Mercury missed a fantastic opportunity to place a Marauder in that movie!

I drove a 300C today. Was Dark Blue in Colour with grey leather guts.
What a nice car.Smooth and quiet.Good insturment cluster to use while driving.Feels heavy but the Hemi takes care of that.
I liked it and am happy that Chrysler took a chance on this car.It is good to get some attention back on rear-wheel drive cars I must say!

I saw a ton of them on the road today, and most appeared to have the Hemi badging. The one in my work parking garage is a Hemi too.

I asked my wife what she thought... she said it looked "beefy" and muscular, but the MM has a more classy look. Interesting. Sometimes it takes listening to others' points of view to see things in a different light.

They are everywhere, though. Saw my first white one today... not my cup of tea. Silver (or something similar) ain't bad, black is... well, black. Don't ask me about no more black cars, okay? ;)

Will have to listen to the Hemi firing up at work, that's for sure.

The 300C's are built about a mile from my office here in Brampton. I see the auto carriers leaving non-stop with them. I know some hate the look, but obviously many buyers don't. I kind of like it, but more importantly I like the idea that there is still one of the 3 N.A. mfrs that hasn't abandoned the big RWD performance sedan.

STAPrap, I'd heard elsewhere that June 25 was the last build day for the Marauder. Can you confirm this?

The front end of the 300 looks like it belongs on the front of a train.

Can you say cowcatcher?
