I have been unable to depress the stupid clips to release the gas filter.
Any ideas before I get real forceful??
Some dumb ash thought the clips were a great idea!!@#$%^&*(

yeah just use a screwdriver and break the clips out, just try not to damage the end of the line. Many aftermarket filters come with new clips.

And many times the shop takes out the free two or three clips from each box, so you have to buy a clip kit along with the filter.
I still need to replace my filters too.

Those free clips are not the same as the factory ones that you push in to release.

With a little sandpaper you can make them work though...

Break the clips off. If they are bad you can't / shouldn't reuse them.
Get a larger filter - Motorcraft – FG800A (larger than stock, use a hose clamp to secure it to stock bracket after you bend the bracket out a bit).
Get these from your local NAPA store - FILNCK11 – qty. 10 fuel filter clips.

I simply busted my clips off and used zip ties to hold the filter on. Been that way for years, not a single problem.
