I've been running into issues with my FPDM. It stranded me one day for about 20 minutes, and today I got the check engine code and a slight stumble. I have an Aeromotive 340 pump and a Boost a Pump installed which is turned off, since I understand it is not needed with the Auromotive 340. (I installed it when I had a Walbro GT40 pump installed, but decided to leave it installed but turned off.) I watch my A/F gauge carefully and it has been indicating proper performance. Not to mention the sound of the engine is right on and it pulls like a freight train.

My question is, do I need the modded FPDM or is the standard one just worn out? What max amperage does the Aeromotive 340 draw? I can't find the answer.

I found this:

http://www.lastcallracing.com/z5-fpdm-stage2.html

When you supercharge, you're supposed to upgrade the pump fuse to 30 amp from 20 amp, which I did, so it makes sense. Just confirming before I spend the money.

Does anyone mod them here for a fee?

My old set up left me stranded just like you but only on days 85* and up. Unfortunately I never got the chance to use the one I got from Bill before I went return style so I can't comment.

I just remember the misery. Monitor your fuel pressure. Once mine started climbing all the way to 60 it would drop like a brick 20, 13, 6, car off.. It was a good way to know when to find an exit!

I'm still on the same 340 I had then, I just added a second one when I switched over so it was definitely the electronics shutting down in my case.

It was only a problem last October after driving the car over 100 miles on business. Today it happened after only driving the car like 5 miles. I may have weakened the original FPDM by having the Aeromotive installed and then the Kenne Bell turned on as well in the past, before I read that I shouldn't with the high power pump. I found a used OEM one on ebay for $30 that I will have modified, hopefully someone on here can do it. I don't really want to do it myself. RacerX?

Have you kept an eye on your fuel pressure to see what it's doing?

No. I just took the car out of storage. I got a new scan tool for Christmas that I can do that with. I will look into that over the next few days.

This kit from lethal is the one to get I assume. So this upgrade is just the power to the FPDM and the BAP...... I read that you should upgrade the wire from the FPDM to the pump as well, correct? It looks like running 10 gauge wire from the FPDM to the brown/pink wire at the tank is the way? Do I have to replace the wire going inside the tank as well? I would think going into the tank would not be necessary, but I want to be sure.

No kit from Lethal will be good for the Marauder

All you need is a modded FPDM

If you want to make any form of improvement, run the FPDM off a relay, with the wire from the inertia switch as the relay trigger wire

Just orders mine from him. Bill seems like a really cool guy. And very helpful.

So you are saying that the wiring upgrade that everyone does it not necessary other than the inertia switch one you mentioned? How does that work to help? Thanks Zack.

The inertia switch mod to the relay IS the wiring upgrade. He just didn't spell out the whole mod. Inertia switch to relay coil. Upsized power wire to relay contacts. Feed the FPDM power from relay contact.

Thank you. Is there a how to thread with the relay type, which color wires to connect etc.?

Is the power wire kit from the distribution box to the FPDM from Lethal not worth the effort then?

Run a 8 or 10 ga wire from the battery to the trunk
Cut the output wire of the inertia switch
The side closest to the switch is the relay trigger wire.
The other side of the wire goes to the output of the relay

Hook the wire you ran to the 12v supply on the relay
Run a ground to the ground terminal of the relay
A standard Bosch 30/40a relay is all you need

Do that first

What he said^^^

The relay upgrade isn't needed unless you're running dual high flow pumps.

Thanks gentlemen.

I cancelled the upgrade wiring kit from Lethal since it is optional with my setup. Hoping RacerX gets back to me soon. I'm afraid to drive the car the way it is now. After reading through some threads it was confusing me because some say you have to upgrade the wiring, and some don't.

I'll buy you both a drink for saving me time and money.
