I've always liked the idea of a pearl/cream off-white.

Painting a moderm car another colur can dramtically lower it's resale.
A friend had a Dodge P/U changed the color from blue to red, it was only 2 years old. A year latter no one would take it on trade, he had to sell it to a used car lot. No one would believe him when he said he just changed the colour, ( I told him as much when he talked about changing the color).

I think a MM is rarer though and someone who knew what they were getting into would take a white one IF it was done right...mind you, repaint a car a different color shouldn't be cheap...couple grand sounds good.
But I don't know jack soooo...:shot:

I'd like to see that. But, you might look like cop car after it's painted.
Woaface is right. Plan on spending lots 'o cash! You can't forget the undersides of the trunk and hood, door jambs, etc.

I wish my white 92 LSC was a different color.
Last time I had it in Hemmings I got LOTS of phone calls ... but everyone was looking for an SE, or one that was at least Garnet Red.
I'm convinced that car would have been sold LONG ago if it were a different color. I certainly would have never bought a white one had I bought it new. There wasn't exactly a dozen other 448 mile 92 LSC's for sale in 1997 though ... know what I mean ?.
Garnet Red or Deep Jewel Green with the Ebony gut would have been my first choice.
If I had money to burn & didn't have to sell it ...
I'd probably have it re-painted in Deep Jewel Green. That would still look sharp with the Mocha gut IMHO. Reds with any sort of tan or saddle gut never did much for me ... rather have a light grey gut, if not the black.
Then again ... I've been wanting something in Cypress Gold too. Available only in 1996 on the 95-97 TC's. Almost a chamelon like color ... looks different depending how you look at it.

"I'd like to see that. But, you might look like cop car after it's painted. "
I have this problem all the time, its quite funny!
Several times as I'm flying down the highway, cars in the left lane suddenly move aside for me to pass. Other than driving fast in a white car, I don't do anything to immitate an officer.
Do you really think that white looks that bad?

DON'T do it. IMO you will not be a happy camper. It is true a vehicle painted a different color than form the factory lowers the value. It's your ride do what you like.

So if it so pleases you to do it, make sure you get it done right the first time and make sure you research the right color and spend good money on a good job.
Look at some other car manufacturer colors, check out some Ford whites as well.
And don't forget, something vastly different will look extremely odd at first. Wait a few weeks and if you like it you like it and if you don't you can give it to me:up:

I like the idea but the other fellows are correct. It would lower the value of the car and it will cost at least $2000 to do it correctly. Probably closer to $3000. Plus, if it is not done correctly, you won't be happy.

I would have loved to see white and mineral grey as factory colors. But I agree with most everyone here, leave 'er black.
You could approach this from another angle. Find a CVPI with a spent motor and dump something hot in it. I don't know how much you were going to spend on paint/parts/labor but maybe you could do this cheap enough to upgrade the interior too for the price it would cost to properly convert a black MM to white.

If you want to see what a Marauder looks like in any color, go to American Racing Wheels (http://www.americanracing.com/wheels/wheels.asp?section=P#) home page. On the bottom of the page, click on the icon that says "Want to see our wheels on your ride". When the new page loads, select Mercury Marauder (takes a while to load) and take a look at what you can do to these cars.

Some body shops may make you replace the front and rear bumper covers since they are hard to strip chemically. The same could be said for the body side mouldings. The last time I looked the front cover was over $1000 and the rear just under $900. If you went with a Ford white you could use the trunk trim panel already molded in white. The white would blend out any leftover chrome or stainless trim, and make the wheels stand out less.
As for resale, if you plan on keeping it for life it doesn't matter. Personally I wish they had made one in a green like Dark Sherwood from a 69 Super Bee. I wish I had known they were going to come out with the DTR. My black is so hard to keep without having a garage.

Mark: I have spent over 4 months working with body shops on getting my Marauder re-painted.
It goes in next week for a full factory re-paint under waranty:)
Cost to re-paint a Marauder is over $7,000.!
I have been to several (5) body shop and have written reports.
They range from a low of $6,000. to a high of $8,1000. Most around $7,000.
If you want to change color you will have to add at least $1,000 to do jambs, under hood and under trunk. That still leaves the firewall and inside fenders.
If you plan to keep the car then re-sale does not enter into it?
I was going green (dark british racing green) but I am staying black:)
My .02 cents. Best of luck!

The marauder IS rarer but the awareness of the car to the general public has not risen to the point where that rareness equates to desirability. Furthermore, from what I know about the rare cars, a color other than stock typically hurts it down the road.
If you ever plan to sell the car the original paint would be preferred by most buyers.
Best,
Dan

My repaint was a hair over $8500, without the jambs, and all I did was dump a bag of pearl in the clearcoat...

If your going to repaint it and do it right it's going to cost you alot of money . Did you ever think of maybe ordering a new one, if their is any time left , and putting a special order in and have the factory paint it white. Then you turly would have the one and only white one ever made. Your resale value would be alot higher in the future.

Is it really possible to do this? If so, can you imagine having one done in that bright yellow they use?
I know that some of you are saying, "Ewww" but I think it would be very, very cool.
