Is there a reason why these tires wouldn't be compatible with a 2004 MM??

Because those websites only allow for certain tires to list per manufacturers recommendations or listings. Many parts I have put on my car over the years show up that way. Unless someone else wants to chime in those will be fine I believe. I run 255/45/18

Mauraders from the factory had a staggered fit, so that tire you've chosen isn't available in both below sizes. Also the 255-55-18, has a big sidewall and I've always thought of them as a truck like tire.

The sidewall isn't that much bigger. The 255 is the width and the 55 is the percentage of the width for the sidewall.
245= 5.3 inch sidewall
255= 5.5 inch sidewall

Pete the only reason it says it's "not compatible " is because the OEM is a 245. They will fit. Read the review on the Continentals before you buy though. I've heard mixed review on Continentals at best. Hey to Wendy.

We have these same tires on my wife's 2010 Terrain in a 235/55/18 and are very happy with them. We primarily drive in the rain and mixed freeways/roads. The terrain is a lot lighter than the MM though. I also bought a similar set for our Mazda3 from Discount, but it is not the exact same, because it was exclusively made for Discount Tire. The tire wear on the Mazda3 is not as good as the Terrain.

The 255/55 will fit, but it has a larger outer diameter than the stock 245/55 size, so your speedo will be off by a bit unless you get it recalibrated with a tuner. Can't say anything about that particular tire, though.

As said you get the warning due to the size not being OEM, many have run the 255/55r18 size and been fine. The DWS Continental Extreme Contacts, in my experience, cup and chop very badly on IRS cars. I have not had any experience with them on a live axle though so I can not speak to that. IF you were getting a full set for the front and the rear I would advise against it, they will wear terribly in the front. The Extreme Contact DW has a better tread pattern, or the Pro Contact if you wanted to stick with Conti.

The website's information is based on the original specs. Check the forums for the tire guide for Marauders.

I run 255's up front and 295's in the (widened) rear..... According to tire sites they don't "fit" either. I run Hankooks front & rear.

The biggest thing I'd be concerned with is making sure the tire is rated for load and speed.

There are some tire stores that refuse to mount anything other than original size tires. They think it's a liability issue.

When you get up into the 255+ range the tire are for light truck / SUV.

I have 255/55r18 in the back, speedo reads 1.5 - 2 mph higher

Good for me, I drive 6 over the limit, so it's actually 4

Has anyone actually run these Continentals on their MM? They look like a good option for an all season tire.

I have Nitto Motivos 255/55-18 and set the tire revs per mile at 720. My speedo matches my GPS perfectly. Officially these tires are 695 r/m.

I've seen nothing but good reviews on these particular ones so far. Maybe I need to research more. Hey to Paula! Hope to see you guys sometime soon!

I posted in a couple of the Facebook Marauder sites. A few have them, nothing but good reviews.

I'm in the market for new tires (all four) and like the look and price of the Continentals. Just seeing if others have used them. My decision is subject to change anytime though.

Thanks for all the replies!

Plus +2

NITTO Motivos are a better choice all around.

Check the Motivos out before you buy.
