Hi all, i'm getting ready to look at an 03 w/147k miles, black. I've never owned a mm, but i do have an 06gmq so i have some knowledge of the panther platform. Is there anything i need to look for on the 03's?
Thanks
Toby

Will it be a Daily Driver or just for the weekend / summer car? Are you looking for an MM you can modify / race or just one you'll be keeping stock?

03 rear axle shafts could wear a groove where bearing rides. Some axle shafts wee improperly heat treated. It could be leaking on backside of rim and hub.

It's mainly just going to be a toy to play around with and do some light mods

Check for leaks
Ask for maintenance records
Check the inside wear of front tires, a lot get the front alignment off. It will most likely need a alignment

If it's something you want, buy it

Bought mine with 192k, other than windshield washer pump only working 5 mins into drive, and a mirror switch., everything has been dandy
I've put 8k on it since late June

Thank you for the heads up on the front end. From the pics, the paint and interior look good. It's only an hour from me so i figured it can't hurt to look.

There's a special way to align it, it's called car fixers spec.

I'm sure you know about the orings for the EATC , if u need some I'll send you some. I just ordered 100 red silicone rings

Roof paint on the 03s suck. They start to rust under the paint, my 03 is starting to do this too

Check the headlights, factory ones are worth lots of money, just a added bonus

I have had a number of CV LX(s) prior to my MM. Still have one CV LX as my daily driver. One of the things I noticed was that many MMs for sale had been involved in accidents or had major engine / suspension repairs.

I always requested a CARFAX and putting the car on the lift so I can see if anything major had been done. Unlike the civilian CVs and MGMs which tend to be babied by their elderly owners, many MMs for sale seem to have had hard lives.

I'm going tomorrow to look at it. This is the first one i've come across that's not to out of sight on price and looks decent from the pics. I'll keep everyone posted.

Please do, I purchased one last May and have been trying to fix all the F*#/ ups on it ever since, but I bought it for a project car anyways and I seen 90% of the problems before I bought it so I can't complain.

Check the oil filter housing... Common problems on these engines.

Well went and looked at the 03, it's worth a parts car that's about it. Rocker panels gone, fender wells going. It was really neglected. I offered the guy $1500 and he just laughed. He's asking $6900, so i said good luck. His response was take her for a spin it'll change your mind. I just laughed and said i may offer you less then. On the upside i did look at an 04 mm, with 26k miles, excellent shape but for $19k wasn't that good of shape. So the search continues, I'm in no rush so I'll keep an eye out.

That's what i was thinking. These were close to me, and i haven't had the gmq out for awhile. So the wife and i took a small road trip. It was only an hour away, so wasn't too bad. I may just put the cash into my 06 if i don't see anything i like. Atleast i know the history on mine and it only has 49k miles. And no rust.

I would watch the for sale section here, buying a members car is usually a good thing as others can often vouch for the car etc. look at it and take pics. I bought mine based on seller being a member, others knew him, and pics. Bought it and had it shipped to Mo's Speed shop site unseen. never in winters, ton of performance mods and a supercharger already there. just needed some tires, updating etc.

Well I have nothing better to do right now

I was clay barring my dads car, sent him on a beer run in my DD marauder

Call says no start

Took cables and multimeter

Alternators charging 14.20 and car made it 200 feet twice after jump starts

Battery now at 4 volts. Lol. This car just made 3100 miles in 4 days and the first nice day here and the battery takes a dump

Waiting on the battery from the silver birch to arrive

Yay. What fun. This is cutting into beer festivities lol

What is the EATC? What o-ring problem is this? Had my Marauder 2 months now, and this is the first I've read about it.

EATC= Electric automatic temperature control. O rings dry out and become brittle which cause issues with it working right

Just type in EATC on YouTube. Lots of vids on how to fix it

Simple, but cheap. Ford wants 700.00 for a new one

Usually when it goes, all air goes to defrost , silver car has done it twice, so that's next
