found this set of MSD coils for $200 seems like a decent price. Anybody tried these on their marauders? if not what do you recommend as a replacement. My car has 102K miles on it. was wanting to do some maintenence and change plugs as well. What spark plugs do yall recommend me replacing the old ones with? My car is tuned by Martyo has CAI and Gears. no motor mods. Thanks for any advice!

NGK plugs..not sure of the number for natural aspiration..I think you can still use the TR6 (one range colder) someone will confirm or have the NGK number for N/A cars.

I like Motorcraft ones personally. still have originals in @ 45k miles. Sparta Performance here can get them for decent price..higher than the MSD but less than $300 usually..but that's my opinion

I would not change the coils unless you can confirm one or more is bad!!:shake:
I had 256,000 miles on my OEM's and never a misfire but we changed them out when my motor was rebuilt since I already had a new set I got from Musclemerc!!
BTW.....I kept the old ones just in case!!

Still running stock coils with 250k miles on the motor, I wouldn't change them unless they were bad. You could ask Marty what plugs he recommends since you are running his tune, most likely it will be NGK or Autolite brand. The common way it was done when I first started modding was if you had a tune you also upgrading the plugs to one range colder and installed a 180 degree thermostat.

I got a set of MSD coil packs on my 04 DTR Mercury Marauder. And a set of E3 spark plugs. I got my MSD coil packs from Ebay brand new for $179.99 shipped. And it was Summit Racing that had them on Ebay. I have gotten better throttle response and little more power and a little more MPG. The E3 spark plugs are getting changed soon. For I bought a Vortech Supercharger kit. That comes with plugs so as soon as it gets here. I am changing them out. But you can't go wrong with the MSD Coil packs. Check them on Ebay. Or get them from Summit Racing them self. You will be happy in my book.

I've been using NGK TR6IX gapped at .036 for the last 6 years and I'm NA.

Is there a noticeable benefit to this setup as opposed to using TR55IX gapped to factory spec when running NA?

I went with the IX Iridium just because at the time my MM was a DD and didn't do much racing. So with all the mileage I was doing (20-25k miles a year) I didn't want to change plugs so often. NGK recommends with the IX series to be replaced every 60k miles if aggressively driven and 80-100k miles if normally driven. I run stock coils with GMS coil connectors as well.
I can't remember how it was decided to run the near SC recommended gap, I know I had talked to Zack about it since I was running his tune. The plugs came gapped at .036 so I think I decided to just leave them at that and see how it ran. Could it run better or worse if I changed to a different gap, maybe? Would that gap work for someone else with similar mods, maybe? Everyone's car will react differently to the same mods.
The nice thing is that it's extremely easy to change the plugs so testing gap adjustment isn't hard, just time consuming as to let the motor completely cool down before pulling the plugs.

I believe the colder range plugs allow additional tweaks to timing in a tune

Colder plugs & thermostat = more timing
More timing = more power
Timing is controlled in your tune.

Use the Ford coil packs. We have found them to be best.
For plugs, use the NGK 4177 gapped at .045. Do not trust them out of the box. Gap before use.
