I've seen talk about using an external relay harness to improve the voltage output to the headlights and reduce the power load on the LCM, but I can't seem to find any info on what's required to build one. Is there a thread in here somewhere that I'm overlooking?

Contact Goldpanther.

If you have one of my upgrade LCM's it's really not needed, but it wouldn't hurt to have one.

No, I have an OEM LCM that was replaced recently under warranty.

I guess it can't hurt to reach out, anyway.

He might for here , but I read on crownvic.net that he stopped over there. Crown Vic and mercury harness slightly different

The harness he makes is for people who want to do absolutely no work.

Just add a relay on both sides.

That's why I was hoping for a write-up of some kind so I know everything I'll need and how to connect it correctly. Things like where to get the connectors for the headlights and the harness so I can make this thing plug-and-play. I suppose I should be well off enough by popping on over to a local boneyard with some snips and cutting off some plugs from whatever has the same connectors.

When you know how a relay works, you will realize you only need 2 relays, some wire and solder.

If you want it plug and play, you will need to order the appropriate connectors from an online retailer

And it also sounds like you haven't searched Goldpanthers posts. .

There are write-ups with pictures.

I am more than aware of how a relay works and how to read the diagram on the side to know which pins are for for switching and which pins are for power.

Now that I know what to look for, I have now searching his posts. Previous searches yielded nothing, and this allowed me to filter better. The write-up isn't particularly detailed, but it does provide information that I still needed, such as appropriate amperage for relays and fuses. I was planning to use 12-gauge wire, but it looks like 14-gauge will suffice. The general layout of the external harness was something I for the most part had already figured out. Just wanted some extra information. It also looks like he sourced his connectors from a boneyard (at least for the original harness), but I can't seem to figure out where he got replacement pins, or where to buy new connectors. I'd assume from a Ford parts supplier, but I don't know the part numbers.

Yes, that was done, and still awaiting a response. I have more information now than when I started, but still don't feel like there's complete information. But whatever. I'll just muddle through with what information I've been able to gather.

Oh thanks guys.

ledzilla I just replied to your pms. Oh man it sucks that I was too late to see your pm, I had the last harness laying in my trunk since the last customer told me he didn't need it any more, so what I did I removed my original master piece out of the car and I put on the newer harness in my car lol.
The pins I bought then from clipsandfasteners.com , the connectors were all oem experienced grabbed from a junk yard since ford wanted $40 a piece. This and some more useful information even measurement will be on a pm soon.

As right now I can't find the free time to work on it. Im just finishing off 4 sets I have pending for some vic owners and I'll be done for a while. And if someone wonders why it's because my profit was from 10 to 20 bucks depending on the parts prices. The problem was I don't have much free time.

Unless, you want to wait for next month in the late days I may work something out.

Looking forward to being able to make that harness. Gonna scrounge up some connectors tomorrow morning. The local boneyard is only open to the public on Saturday mornings, so that'll be the first adventure I'll have had in a while.
