Have a leaking passenger side strut. Anybody ever try these? Under the Marauder tab, RockAuto has the FSC brand. Not a lot of information on these, although other sites have them as well, but not ready to pull the trigger on these unless somebody has any feedback about them. 87,000 on the clock so the springs are probably still good. I've read all about the KYB, etc. debates....just want factory-style restoration on the front end. Good ol' Motorcraft or compatible Severe Duty? Thanks

I tried those on my wifes 2002 maxima when she had it. You get what you pay for. Gave the maxima a little lift up front but at the same time, the ride was super mushy. Few days later the right front starting banging. Strut starting leaking. I paid like 130 for the pair complete assembly.
Dont do it!

Kybs or severe duty.
You will be happy with either.
The only issue is /will be this; comparing NEW struts/shocks to old worn stock struts/shocks.
Both will seem a little stiff at first when compared to what you drove to the shop (worn/older). Comparing them to when the Maruader was brand new--the spread change is minimal.
If you are concerned about too stiff, go with the severe duty.
I did the kybs... At 17,000 and at 29,000 miles on both cars, and have only driven each less tha 500-1000 miles. They are settling in nicely, and only 2% -3% of the time do I think they are too firm... usually at 20mph or so on rough roads, And some of the roads around here are rough. This 2%-3% to me is far better than the previous before change 20%-30% I thought the shocks were too soft.
Be sure to buy the full mounting rubber grommet kits which ever way you go, and note: these are new/firmer too!
I think you will smile and never look back either way! And again, the sweet spot of great handling AND great ride will increase exponentially.
Happy to discuss via phone anytime.

Kyb has a $40 mail-in rebate right now until the end of the month when you buy four struts/shocks.

Appreciate the feedback. A rebate is always nice, so I'll take a close look at the KYBs.

I have a 2005 MGM ULTIMATE LS with the very rare HANDLING PACKAGE. I had the KYB strut plus complete unit strut and coil installed and it raised the front 1.5 inches. So much that the air level system was confused and actually turned on while the car was off. It also engaged after about 20 minutes of driving something it's never done it usually turns on for 10 seconds then doesn't come on again until after I park for a while. I took it back to the shop that installed them and put the factor springs back on. I don't think it lowered it much but it rides really good. With the strut plus complete it was really stiff. Don't get me wrong to firm ride was cool and was able to take tips way better but the factor coil with a new KYB strut is a great combo. I still have the springs so if I decide I need them I can just have them put in. KYB's are a firm ride but they'll last forever. KYB also offers a gas adjust strut those are the best and with the factory coil it should give you a perfect ride.
