I recently had the voltage regular go out on my 03 MM. I am having a hard time finding an alternator (voltage regular and alternator 1 piece). Has anyone else had problems finding the correct alternator?
Take it to a local rebuilder

You need to be looking for a Ford "4G" style alternator. A GM, Mustang or CV alternator will fit but won't work.
eBay has a bunch listed as well as your nearest FLAPS should carry them or can order it.

For about twice the price of a used one you can get a new one (less the core charge).
IMHO... buy a new one... when buying a used one you are potentially getting someone else's problem.

It appears the unit in the link does not have the OEM type clutch in the pulley hub that our Marauders do (It shuts off the alternator during full throttle)?

+1 on that! I had mine rebuilt for $78, included all electronics, bearings, and i think maybe even new windings. (Either that or he cleaned them up real good). He even steam cleaned the aluminum case. I swear the thing looked brand new.

In general the original Ford alternators are better than the Chinese junk you can buy "new". Been there, done that, rebuilt my OEM alternator and ditched the cheap garbage.

Where did you get the regulator? I think that they're unique to the Marauder.

No, it doesn't work like that. It is a one-way clutch that lets the alternator freewheel on sudden throttle closing.

I re-used the original regulator, it was fine. Replaced the bearings and one-way clutch pulley.
An alternator shop should be able to source a new Motorcraft regulator. I know the people at Mechman alternators use OEM regulators, they have to buy them somewhere.

My voltmeter shows no alternator charging voltage under full throttle

That's a tuning parameter

The PCM controls the regulator, and shuts it down at WOT. When the trans shifts at 6K RPM dropping the engine (and alternator) RPM suddenly the one-way clutch allows the alternator to overrun without stressing and squealing the accessory drive.

Thanks - now I understand
