With you guys running 285/50-18 , how much air preassure are you useing?

Also, what would be best air preassure for 245/55-18?

Is that for the 285/50-18?

I only know one person running that size. . ADAM. Not really a popular size

'03 300As called for 32 all 'round. 300Bs and all '04s called for 35 all 'round. It was determined that putting a little more in the rear reduced the centre wear, even though that's counter-intuitive. It was even confirmed by BFG.

I always put the max stamped on the tire.

This seems a bit risky especially in the heat in Las Vegas. Tire experts recommend no more than 90% of the Max Rated pressure when cold. Pressure will increase as tire tire heats up. So, 40-41 psi is the recommended upper limit on a tire stamped 45 psi Maximum.

BTW -- the 2003 300B's also recommended 32 psi all around. It didn't get bumped to 35 psi on all 4 corners until the 2004 MMs came out. The increase IIRC was because of first year complaints on tire wear. 35 on the front is fine ... But most longtime members run 38-40 on the rears based on experience and feedback from members.

I've always ran 40 front and back for all the tires I've had.

Max rated pressure IS cold pressure. Either way 4PSI over specification is hardly an issue in any respect - I doubt any tire would pose a safety issue or significant performance change at 10PSI over.

I like 40-42 for my cars, both stock and widened - a touch stiffer ride but cornering and fuel economy get a positive bump.

I run what the tire shows right on the sidewall
My 03 with 32 psi in its tires got 24-26 mpg when I ran 13 tanks of fuel through it in 3.5 days to Miami and back
Trip to Louisville and back it was getting 24+ again

Tire pressure is a personal choice, notice how some choose high pressure and some choose low pressure, it just depends on how YOU like it

My f250s tires call for 95 psi, I run them at 45 psi and air them up when I tow heavy cars
It would ride like a Cadillac with 4 flats if I ran it at 95psi all the time!

Play around with your tire pressure and see where you enjoy it the most

For what it's worth, Ford engineers were running 38 on all 4 corners of their Marauders at a track day at the Dearborn proving grounds in 2005.

I have Pirelli Scorpion 285 50 18s on rear, I've run 32# for the last six years, 36,000 miles. Tread still looks great

What are you looking for as far as air pressure, daily driving, racing, towing? Depending on the job the pressures will be different. Specify.

Daily driver. I really dont care about gas milage. I dont follow that. I just want my car to look and ride nice.

I try and maintain 35-6 lbs. for show/cruise nite use. I no longer DD the car, but 35-6 lbs and Carfixer alignment specs should give you the best wear/mileage for DDing your car assuming normal driving/conditions.

Yes and they are wearing very evenly.
