Good day all,
I recently posted that I had a clicking noise coming from engine compartment. Long story short, my shop rebuilt the engine and I had it for about 100 miles and then the car overheated. The car went back and they said the thermostat “broke in half”, in all my time in the old days of building engines, I have never heard of that. So, they replaced the thermostat and I got the car back. I had her out on the freeway in gridlock, 94-degree day and air conditioning with no problems. Then two days later I went for ride around block to get some miles on her and then she overheated again. Off she went back to the shop.
Right now they are stumped as they have been driving her and no overheating. They checked the thermostat again. I also noticed that they are using some sort of brown coolant, is this correct? They are doing everything to work with me and they have given me a loaner car the whole time and every time she was at the shop. That alone saved me tons of cash. I have only paid half of the bill for the rebuild, and as of now, I have zero faith in my marauder. Any suggestions would be very helpful as they are open to suggestions. I wish to works with these folks.
Thank you all

I've never ever heard of a thermostat breaking in half......
I can almost guaranty that they didn't properly burp the cooling system.

Don't know about the brown radiator fluid but it sounds as if there is air in the system and it hasn't been "burped" properly to get the air out.

Hope for the best on radiator fill and burping. Brown fluid in radiator is commonly oil in the water. Usually not a good thing. Check the oil and make sure it is clean, if oil is getting in the water, water could also be getting in the oil. One place that can happen (probably the easiest one to fix) is the oil filter adapter. Other places are usually internal.

Are you sure they're not using the yellow anti freeze?

You might want to make sure they are using a Motorcraft thermostat or other good thermostat like Reische. There are some thermostats that say they are for the marauder (like Motorad) but they are not and will cause the car to overheat. Ask me how I know, lol. Grand Marqius Thermostat will not work even though some sites list it as a compatible thermostat for Marauder.

If you even look at the images on RockAuto for the Marauder thermostats, you can see which ones are missing the bypass (the whole on the shaft just under the spring?) and will cause the Marauder to overheat.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken.

THIS. I was given the WRONG thermostat for my car from oreilly's, they told me it was the right one. It made my overheating problems WORSE. Guess how I fixed it?? I ended up putting the old thermostat back in. turns out it was my coolant cap.

So everybody, I need your help. after getting the marauder back after the second overheat, "they" finally learned to burp the car correctly. so today, my ex wife's mom is in ICU and it looks bad. i got on the freeway, stopped at a chevron and decided to check the oil on my new engine. i found out then that they put a broken dipstick back in the car and i have no way of checking the oil. i also don't know where the part of the dipstick that is missing if it is in the engine or not. i am going to talk to the owner on Monday as they are closed on the weekend. i have to rent a car tomorrow to go see my ex wife's mom at the hospital. any suggestions?

Mach 1 or Aviator would have the same dipstick if you can find one in a yard...

+3 on find another shop. Finding a broken dipstick would have done it for me.

Glue a small magnet to the end of a metal coat hanger or welding rod and go fishing.
Scratch that. Probably stainless?
