Chris and I made a deal that he would give me half off of my engine swap if I gave him a shout-out on the forum. It's taken me nearly 2 weeks to have a moment to holdup my end of the bargain...but here we are, finally.
My Marauder had been down with some bad knocking in the engine for about 6 or 7 months. I took it to the local Ford dealership when the knocking began and they said that I needed to get the engine replaced...to the tune of about $7k... :shake: Not gonna happen...
Bad news...I need a new/rebuilt engine. Good news...I can get boosted!!! Or so I thought...
After weighing the costs of getting a s/c set-up against all of my other financial obligations, I decided boosting wasn't in my future...I just wanted my car fixed.
Long story, short...I reached out to Chris about getting my car back on the road once I had a decent amount of cash stashed. I won't bore you with the details as Chris already described what happened in this thread:http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=101089 But what I will say is that Mr. Curless went above and beyond what I would've expected anyone to do for a customer, let alone a complete stranger. There was a lot of blind trust involved in this whole transaction. In fact, we had a good laugh about my wife's unspoken concerns about me handing a decent amount of cash to a crazy White guy (his words) - whom I never met - in a parking lot. Good times...
Chris, along with his lovely wife and his guys from the shop dropped my car off on their way to Louisville. It's been about 2 weeks of knock-free, tick-free, and smoke-free Marauder'n...so I'm ecstatic.
Good looking out, Chris. Thanks for all that you did to get me back on the road. You've earned a customer for life.
Also, shout-out to Marty O, too. We spoke a few times.
