Will be traveling to LI next week. Looking for good place to stay in the
Manhasset/Old Westbury area. Wife seeing specialist there. Plan to stay 25th-28th. Any suggestions on places to eat? things I must see? Thanks for any help. Neil.

I stayed at a bed and breakfast in Bellport, near East Patchogue. Bellport is the opposite to Manhattan. They only have 1 red light.

I couldn't say if this will help you but this is an interesting piece of trivia.

That's about a 1 hour drive depending on traffic on the LIE. Probably more excitement that you need. If your looking for a real nice hotel look up the Garden City Hotel. Pricey but very nice and lots of shopping & food choices near by.

Laguardia Airport is only 15 minutes away, and there are your standard hotels there (Marriot, Marriot express, Ramada, etc.) Check switchboard.com or even expedia.com for specifics.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Is the old "The Dutch Inn" still out near Islip MacArthur Airport? Seems that was the place to stay long ago --- of course, its been nearly 25 years since I was working out of Suffolk County.

Ok about 15 minutes from where you will be off the LIE and route 110 (I believe its exit 48 )their is a very nice Marroitt . If you stay their and Like Itailan Food just go south on Rt110 to route 9 and go east about 1/2 mile a restaurant called Bella Napolli on the left side ,excellent food. about 10 minutes from the hotle. If would like to go too a really good Dinner from the hotel go south on route 110 to Conkin street,at the light make a right turn go about 4 miles just past route 135 on the left Embusty Dinner . Their is also another Itailan Rest Called Franciso Something 2 blocks east of the dinner not bad at all. Their is a # of small towns that are nice to see also ,one favorite is Port Jefferson .It's on the north side of Long Island about 45 minutes west of the Marriott. Small little shops, some nice places too eat and a nice area to walk around near the water. Also another small town which is nice to visit is Sag Harbor. It's on a small Island ,very pretty.Another nice town is Garden City, nice Hotels, nice area, good shopping area ,some good restaurants too. It's very close to where you will be going also. (Old Westbury). I hope I helped you a little.

Garden City hotel is nice....there's a Bennigan's very close by and tons of stuff on old country road...like a cheescake factory, pf changs, etc.

I know this because I work around the block from the Garden City hotel. :D

PM me if you have specific questions.
