Finally managed to pick myself up an 04 Marauder. Everyone here seems extremely helpful on practically everything. Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Shes got 84k miles on it,so far only a K&N cold air intake. Ive seen a lot about 410 gear swaps and getting it tuned but what exactly does that mean? Pardon me for being so uninformed. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Talk to Marty from Mo's Speed Shop; he has a forum here:

He will get you the tune you need.

If you have any hills where you drive and feel that annoying shifting/searching for the right gear, a proper tune will fix that (shift schedules changed). In my opinion that is the worst thing about the Marauder. If your car doesn't do that, perhaps it already has a tune since the previous owner started the mods with a CAI.

Really don't need a tune for just a CAI.

OP - install 4.10 gears and get a tune and tuner, even if you already have a tune (did a hand held tuner come with the car?) as your speedo will be off and the tranny will be shifting all crazy.

Welcome to the site.

I was trying to state that a CAI does nothing but make noise without a tune, not a mod I'd do at all without a tune.

this is exactly what is happening! I did actually find it at a dealership and it seems like it had more done but the dealership changed things back.

The budget really has yet to be set. Most everything I have read about the tune and 4.10s pretty much says they are mandatory for any Marauder owner. But I have no idea how much that could cost. Once those are out of the way the sky is the limit really.

Buy the SCT from Marty with both 355s and 4.10s on the device. Drive with the 355 tune until you have the funds to add the 4.10 gears. Once added, you will already have the 410 tune on the device to upload with the gears. That's what I did.

Sct and tune $400-450

4.10 gears only installed $500-700

4.10 gears installed plus new bearings, trac-lok rebuild kit . $800-1000

These are ballpark estimates. Actual will vary based on if further work needs attention like axle shafts if were to be needed.

Talk to Curless about doing the gear install. He's in Grand Rapids, MI. Thanks to him, I'll never know what it's like to drive a stock Marauder.

He did the 4.10 gear swap, rear end rebuild and axle replacement on my Marauder (all for the previous owner). He just recently did an engine swap on that same car for me. You won't be disappointed working with him; he's a class act. Good luck!

4.10s and a tune are what I'm going to start with as well, so that's my pick!
