No real issues with my 03 marauder until last week when I used my wipers....
A week ago I turned on the wipers and they didn't work at all when on delay, turned them on full and they worked, when shut off they stayed in whichever position on the windshield.... Odd. Shut car off and zero issues so far, they still work fine on any position on the rotary switch
Rainy and gloomy today, headlights turned ON , flick on the wipers and the headlights flash on/off with every cycle of the wipers....
Typically on my car, if it's dark out, I turn on the wipers and it turns on the headlights and they stay ON until a reasonable amount of time
So LCM issue?
So I assume if I drive the car tonight with the wipers on delay, they will shut off during the wiper cycle
If the wipers are on NON cycle/ full wiper mode the headlights stay on like normal

if your headlights keep doing it, it is the LCM.
I could get my headlights back on playing with the lever.
Call your dealer have them order part 4w7z13c788bd before you go in.
Tell them about recall 14N01.
The labor says .2 hours. This will take care of your problem till the
new LCM's 4w7z13c788be become available.

Update: Everything was working perfectly this morning before.....
Went to dealership and had LCM replaced under warranty
Now wipers only work in high
Turning on wipers no longer turns on headlights in the dark
Once it stops raining I will swap wiper motors to see if I have wiper delay function again....

Yes, the headlight issue is most likely caused by the LCM. Ford did an extended warranty under code "14N01". There is a now a full recall under code "15S39". Just bring your car to the Ford Dealer and they have to replace the LCM for free.
"Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S39."

Also, quick tip: If you find yourself driving at night or during a rainstorm and your headlights go out before you get to the Ford Dealer, put (and hold) your high beams on and you will have your headlights (with high beams) working until you get home. Other drivers will be upset with you, but you will at least see where you are going.

They just replaced the LCM at 1:00 today
My guess why the headlights were shutting off is from the wipers, idk... Did u watch the video? The headlights were flashing on and off with the wiper cycle. LOL
I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue...
I think we all know about the recall
Thanks

Oh yeah, I called to make a appt for replacing the LCM this morning, mentioned my headlights were shutting off while driving at night to push getting it installed ASAP
The B at the dealer told me "there is no reason to change the part out at this time"
Me: Oh really???? I'd like to have headlights at night, there's the extended coverage warranty on it!
15 minute conversation goes back and forth
Sighs: what is your mileage?
201k
Check to see if you have the p# and set a appt
Why so difficult?? It was like pulling teeth to get the LCM swapped for functioning headlights
I don't get it...

If the headlight switch is in AUTO position and you turn your wipers on, after 30-40 seconds with the wipers still ON, the headlights will turn on automatically regardless if the light sensor sees plenty of light.

I never use the far left auto feature...
On this early build 03 the headlight switch can be in the off position and when the wipers are on for 10 seconds the headlights come on.
Now with this new LCM, that no longer happens....

Yes, a bad circuit board in the wiper motor housing will cause your problem. I had similar problems and after finding a hole burned through the wiper motor PC board, I replaced the wiper motor w/OEM Ford part - problem solved.

When my LCM started to go bad (randomly would not have headlights when I phyiscally turned them on).. I could get them to work by turning on the wipers. Only happened three times before I had the LCM recall done.. So I'd say the wipers and headlights tie into the LCM somehow..
If I'm reading it right, you had the LCM recall done, but STILL have lights flashing with the wipers?

The wipers are tied into the lighting system. If your wipers are on for more than a few seconds or a minute (I forget the length of time) the headlights will come on... it's a safety feature.
BTW,,, there is a lot of good info in the owners manual.

I had the LCM recall done and immediately fixed the headlights shutting off with each cycle of the wipers
Sucks is now with the wipers on, the headlights do not turn on anymore, period
Also with this new LCM, the blinker flasher unit is about 1/2 as loud as the old one, which sucks.
I have a spare wiper motor assy I need to swap in, one currently in the car flakes out every other time I drive the car

^ My 'new' LCM from the recall is the same way, wipers do not trigger the headlights.. I guess that's part of their fix?

Well we are two peas in a pod
I wonder if we can claim against ford for removal of a safety feature?
Can you say class action law suit ;)

I agree...
My original intention for this thread was.... Is my issue the LCM or the wiper board.....
Seems it was both, as the new LCM keeps my headlights ON lol
I should have stepped out of the car, the headlights were turning on and off with each cycle of the wipers. HAHA. My parents were in the car when I made the video, it didn't matter if I turned the headlights on or off, they flashed with each cycle....
Soooo. Upgrading the relays won't solve that issue..... What else are they doing with this new LCM ?
I'll eat crow if this current LCM starts flashing the lights, I still retain the same wiper board that's flaking, but not flashing
Ideas? Thoughts?

According to the factory wiring manual, there is a connection between the wiper motor assembly and the LCM. You may have a multi-part issue and replacing the LCM solved half of it...
