loud noise/vibration when turning ac on

whenever I turn my a/c on, a few seconds later I get this noise/vibration that sounds like you are sliding a chair against a kitchen floor for about 1-2 seconds. anyone familiar?

I will check today if its coming from under the hood, but so far I feel and hear it inside the car distinctly.

my initial thought was the blend door/actuator having trouble moving.
