Someone once PM'd me about possibly trading my factory rims for his factory rims that he had already had powdercoated black. Although the deal was too costly/inconvenient because of shipping, I just wondered if ANYONE who has powdercoated their factory rims COMPLETELY black had any PICTURES??? I don't think I've ever seen a picture here of our factory rims powdercoated completely black. I know Cruz' rims are real nice, I'm just curious what all black looks like too. Thanks.

Thanks, Constable! Fordnut? Is that your wheel? If it is, would you mind posting some full-length photos of the entire car? I'm just DYING to know what that looks like! Thanks!

I LIKE it! The polished aluminum/clearcoated factory wheels are bit too bling-blingy for me. I'm going for a different aesthetic. I'm trying to make my car more sinister-looking, more Darth Vader-ish, more evil. I'm trying to make my car invisible. Like a stealth fighter . . . but unfortunately, unlike the real stealth fighters, it WON'T be invisible to radar!

Now, THAT'S a serious badazz aesthetic, don'tcha think? Well, WHATEVER y'all think, I THINK it's a SERIOUS BADAZZ look! Sure, the painted calipers and slotted/drilled rotors don't hurt either . . . Guess it's off to the powdercoaters . . . THEN, I GOTTA GET NEW ROTORS!!!
I think the ONLY chrome I'll have left on this car when I'm done will be my new SLP tailpipes, and my new Antenex trunk-mounted scanner antennas . . .

A shot of the wheel only does not show the improvement. IMPROVEMENT is in the eye of the beholder. Mine are all black and I have gotten quite a few comments from non MM owners on how much it improves the cars appearance.

I've seen completely black rims on a Marauder in person, IMO it's too much black. It looked like an unmarked cop car.
Cruztaker had the right idea. He left the lip chrome. Anyone who has seen Barry's car up close will tell ya,.. It's looks sweet!
I think the car needs at a least a little chrome to offset all that black.
But hey, to each his/her own. At the end of the day the only opinion that should matter is your own.

They ALL look like unmarked cop cars. Now the discussion really starts. Styling is a matter of personal taste, I do what I want to my car, until someone else starts making the payments. Mine will soon have both ham and CB radios and requisite antennas, then it will really look like a cop car!
I'm thinking this really wasn't worth posting.
NBC: My pic files are too large, I'll try to e mail them to you.

Uhhhh . . . that's kinda EXACTLY what I was shooting for . . .

Yeah, I KNOW Barry's wheels look sweet! Cruz' car is about the coolest looking Marauder on this site. I AGREE with you, Petrograde, but I'm going a DIFFERENT route--I just want some pictures of ALL BLACK WHEELS!
Thanks, Constable! Fordnut? Is that your wheel?
Actually...the pic is of the Turbo Marauder that was built by a group just Northeast of Atlanta, here. It came to our breakfast once, and as you can see...it has Todd from TCE's brake package (Wilwoods) with the calipers painted red.

Brian (Fordnut) DOES however have black, powdercoated wheels. He did this by utilizing 4, 300A unfinished full-spare wheels...and they look good IMHO. But, I've found it to be a love/hate thing with Marauder owners.

Yes, I agree it does look badazz.....Particularly with the big brakes.
Go for it!

Todd:
Thanks for the 411, TAF! The unfinished full-spare rim . . . they're the same weight as the rims on the car, right? They're aluminum, same construction, just not finished, yes? Those have GOT to be cheaper to buy (I have one out-of-round rim I need to replace), than the polished factory rims, right (I hope)?
Yes, apparently a love/hate thing, but I do value your opinion, Todd, 'cause, who knows, maybe it DOES look lame in person. I would guess the black makes the wheels look a little smaller. And my new Nittos already look a little smallish. But even when I blew a tire the other week and I had to use the temporary spare on that black steel rim . . . I thought . . . HEY! That looks kinda good! I was on the fence about the Nittos, and I decided at the last ******ing minute to go ahead with them (and REALLY glad I did)--I ALMOST put the BFGs on. Now I've been on the fence about the all-black rim thing for a while now, and . . .
Amsoil Dealer:
Thanks for the encouragement! I think the responses on this thread finally convinced me to go with what I originally wanted--ALL BLACK and ALL BAD!

Antennas . . . yeah, lots of antennas . . .

My wheels will be black anodized
as soon as I scuff them on a curb (!)
That is the ONLY way or reason I can see
for getting rid of the symbol of sport and muscle...
OK, I get the stealth idea but this car has VERY
subtle clues (for those in the know) as to it's
potential for BADDAZZity (?)
Remember the Taurus SHO? You had to look
REAL hard to know, but when you knew, it got
your respect and acknowledgement...the only way
I remember telling was from the recessed SHO rear bumper...

MMMMMMMM....
You don't post your location?
Let me warn you, I did extensive research on Anodizing last year as everyone here knows. Albeit somewhat cheaper, the anodizing process will absolutely not hold up the weather regardless of how you take care of it. It's not just road salt, and other contaminents, but the sun in general will ruin them.
The local anodizing company told me this, and did'nt want the responsibility of spending over $700 only to have them fade and discolor in a very short time.
Just advice man, do what you really want though.

Shooter...
Look at my sig, link to the garage, there's one of my pics in it.
Also search for the thread I started entitled "powdercoated wheels" and there are some thumbnails of pics both on and off the car in the thread.
My calipers and rotors are still stock, brakes are just one of the things I haven't gotten around to yet.
It may have been me that contacted you about the trade, email me and I'll give you some tips on how I went about getting it done. I've been thinking about going back to polished wheels so maybe we can work out something.

Who needs a SHO when you can have the GO? :D
Now back to the thread............. One of the anniversary Pontiac Trans Am's had wheels that were anodized blue. I wonder what they're coated with to keep the blue from fading?

I like it but you are right with the new tires the black almost looks too small. I also think the Red calipers are too much. If you are going for all black and stealth then go all the way - you are almost there now anyway. I though like the traditional look of the chrome, but I'm thinking of blacking out the window trim, not sure about the black on the tail lights, sure looks nice - how will it hold up in Chicago weather?

I forgot to express my thanks for all the wheel compliments I recieved in this thread....thanks! It's nice to get kudos once in a while.
I really like the black look, but must have a high polished outer edge for me. When you folks decide what you are gonna do, just make sure to pay the extra dough to have the entire interior of the wheel powder coated as well.
