I recently had some troubles with my charging system. My battery was going dead and had it put on a tester and it turned out to be the voltage regulator on the alternator. I ordered one through powerbastards.com along with the recommended 0 gauge power wire. I jumped the battery and car started up fine. Today I drove the car for the first time and stopped for gas. Lo and behold the car wouldn't start. Jumped it again and went to my local autozone and they charged the battery for 1.5 hours. Of course the car started right up and they tested the alternator and it said "bad voltage regulator"! Does anyone know what the issue could be? This is a brand new alternator. This may sound stupid, but I have a tune for the car. Could that have anything to do with it?

Might be your battery.
Parts store alternators are junk
Take it to a local shop to be rebuilt

With the car running, what are your volts at the alternator charging lug?
The big wire that leads to the battery

It can't be bad. They dyno test every unit before shipping..
Yep, heard that one before!
It's probably just the wrong regulator installed in it. Common issue with many aftermarket ones.

As of today the battery is still good. But I have only driven it home from Autozone after being charged. I'll check the voltage and let you know. I'll also contact powerbastards.com to see what they say as well.
Thanks guys

Did you get the correct alternator? It's a "4G" style. Powerbastards Product ID: 8314-220

I THINK, I'm back in business. I contacted powerbastard.com and just by chance as I was looking at their website for the phone number I saw a link talking about UDP and it's effect on the alternator/battery. Just hit me that I have a considerably smaller one on my MM that I installed just a bit before my alternator/battery troubles. As much as I hated to do it, I went back to stock. hopefully this will cure my issues.
