Okay, just thought I'd ask . . .
Procharger makes an intercooled centrifugal blower kit [1FL212-SCI] for the 2003 Mustang Mach 1. Now, what if I punched a hole in my hood and put a scoop about the same place and dimensions as where the Mach 1 intake would be . . . See where I'm going? Are the Mach 1 and Marauder engine bays that different that this wouldn't even be a thinkable possibility?
OR, I could just punch a hole in the hood and put the ACTUAL Mach 1 factory shaker scoop there. Why can't this work? Brackets? Clearance issues? Plumbing wrong shape/size? What?

This was discussed once, the ACTUAL mach 1 hood scoop is too small on a Marauder hood. A custom one would be necessary.

I don't see the shaker being that easy of an install on the Marauder. I know both cars pretty well, and if you'll notice, the Mach has the whole center of its hood raised. This area immediately around the shaker is used to seal the shaker off from the elements. The way the Marauder's hood sits and the clearance between it and the top of the motor, I would think that some of the hoods structure would need to be cut away to allow for a proper seal.
Plus we all know that that itty bitty shaker would look no good on such a big hood... right...? ;) Even the Mach guys wish the shaker was a little taller and wider.

The S/C I have seen on a Mach I by pass the shaker.
The only advantage of a Procharger is it has it's own oil supply.
If you want an S/C why not just go with one of the vendors that are on this board?
In some extensive research that I've done on supercharging a Marauder...the Pro-Charger kept coming up with some concerns for its use on our cars. I'd suggest sticking with either the roots from Trilogy, or a Vortech setup. Although different setups, they both have proven to be successful add-ons.

Thanks for everyone's input on this! Todd, any specifics "on the concerns for [Procharger superchargers'] use on our cars?" I've always heard good things about Prochargers.
Here are a few of my reasons for investigating alternative supercharger solutions:
1. No shop that I've talked to will install a non-CARB certified supercharger in my car in California.
2. I am not aware of a single shop in California that has installed a Trilogy system in a Marauder (and Lidio's shop is WAY too far from me).
3. Although I had originally wanted a Roots-style Eaton blower, like the Trilogy kit uses, I am growing more concerned about engine temps and our crappy California 91-octane "premium" fuel--so, I'm reconsidering centrifugals. My engine knocks now, N/A.
4. The 2003 Mach 1 Procharger intercooled supercharger kit is only $4K (but does not include a fuel pump). It's also got a CARB number, and is 50-state legal.
Thanks again for everyone's input!

Hasn't Pande done this supercharger?

I believe Pande did a custom install of a P-1SC Procharger blower. They did NOT use the Procharger kit [1FL212-SCI] made specifically for the '03 Mach 1. Maybe it wasn't available yet? Also, the P-1SC supercharger kit fits right onto the factory Mach 1 scoop, "[retaining] the functionality of the factory shaker scoop." That's why I thought this was an interesting possibility.

The S/C I have seen on a Mach I by pass the shaker.
The Procharger kit integrates directly with, and implements the factory Mach 1 shaker.

Called Procharger today and asked them if the Mach 1 kit would fit on a Marauder, assuming I'm mating it to the Mach 1 factory shaker as shown in their website photos . . . one person's response at Procharger as to whether the kit would fit was, "I'm not sure--never tried it." Then they referred me to Pande's Performance whose recent Marauder install of a Procharger P-1SC blower with "some parts from the Procharger Mach 1 kit" apparently was featured in the May 2004 issue of MM&FF. Apparently, from what the Procharger person told me from the pictures in the article over the phone, the intake (the one Pande's made first) has been redesigned, and sounded like a modified factory intake, rather than the curled-up-in-front-of-the-radiator install first shown in pictures from Pande's here in the gallery.
