I just replaced my plugs (119k). I'm not sure if it's been done before because I've only owned the car for 10k miles. Everything looked good except the two middle plugs on the driver side. The spark plug tunnels for both of them were black (no silver) and both plugs were loose. I didn't even use a ratchet to remove them. Any opinions on what causes this?

Looks like carbon / exhaust getting by loose plugs. Just a thought.

^^^. Yup. That's why there's carbon on the porcelain of the plug, it was loose and got past where the plug is supposed to seat

You've already fixed it if you put new plugs back in the car

We're the plugs tight?

Plugs were loose. New Ngk 4177 have been installed.

Engine was still a little warm when I changed them....not warm enough to require gloves.....the Internet makes it sound like my engine may explode if the engine isn't super cold for a plug install.

If the spark plugs have a white spot on the coil end of plug then they're the original factory installed spark plugs.

Loose plug blowby. Check those two coils. They've been exposed to a lot of extra heat.
