So I have made threads on my engine bay clean up, then my headlight semi-resto, and today I finally got a chance to work on the actual paint.

It has all of the typical Marauder paint issues but it still is capable of a decent shine. I used my DA for all the liquids. Started with a clay bar, then Meguiars ultimate compound, ultimate polish, and ultimate wax. I gave the wheels the same treatment. Took over 5 hours, but the results are not too shabby.

Header panel, front bumper, and rear bumper need a respray. Actually, roof needs to be stripped and painted as does hood and trunk...guess the whole car really needs to be painted! Lol

5 hours for all of that?

I spent 20 hours clay barring my dads silver birch, I did every external piece, glass, trim, paint, rubber

Back to black
Rain X

Yet to polish it, I bet it'll take 8-10 hours

Yours really does look nice, mines black too, dirty the next day LOL

Holy cow, we must work at a little different pace. I could have spent a couple more hours on it if I had the time. I also didnt touch the interior.

Thank you! Its covered in pollen already!

Looks good! I used the same process on my '92 Mustang to bring the paint back to life. The Ultimate Compound coupled with a DA polisher works wonders.

Good job but if you've never tried the Auto scrub Nano skin I guarantee you will never go back to a clay bar. When I got my MM it had sat in the underground parking of a condo building, it felt like cement was stuck in the paint on then roof, trunk and hood. The clay bar did nothing for that and I spent more than a few hours trying.

I was told about the nanoskin and it was what saved my paint.

I forget the model number, but it is a Meguiars unit.

All that work produced great results. Need sunglasses to keep my eyes from burning. Come show your ride at the car show any Saturday between 4:00 - 6:00 located Patriot Square just off exit #9 Dennis Ma.

+1000 Great product! Several companies offer their own variation.

I, too, use a similar product for the clay process on my car. It's not the Nano Skin product, but it is basically the same idea: a microfiber cloth with a rubbery polymer coating on one side that acts as they clay. Leaves everything feeling silky smooth and the process is way quicker than a traditional clay bar. Garage One is the producer of mine, a local company here in Tampa, FL.
