As the subject says, I would like to connect the battery to the car while the engine is out with the engine and transmission harness unplugged. I imagine the PCM won't like the missing sensors, etc.

Are there any potential problems connecting the battery with half the wiring harness missing? I need to pump out the fuel tank. I imagine the PCM won't operate the fuel pump with the fuel pressure sensor missing, so I'll have to jumper it in the trunk.

Or I could just ground the battery, and jumper 12V to the fuel pump without turning on the car wiring. Maybe that makes the most sense?

I've never had an issue doing it, usually to gain access to the trunk as my key hole is a camera.

If you feed 12v into the pump, you will back feed the whole car, I would just power it up from the cables up front.

Just add a fuel stabilizer and it'll stay fresh

If long term storage, i always do it with a full tank. No chance of the tank rusting out

I jumped pins 3 and 10 to GND and 12V (check the schematic if you want to try this, don't trust my memory) in the trunk, pumped the tank dry in a few minutes. Have to put the big Walbro in now. I did not connect the battery to the battery cables, chassis or use the Fuel Pump Driver Module. Used a 10A inline fuse just to be safe.
