View Full Version : My new speed limit sign

I finished my speed limit sign today. It isn't perfect, but I'm happy with how it looks.

What I started with, a older raised panel 25 miles per hour speed limit sign.

I wanted to to something with it to make it better looking. This is what I came up with, paint it DTR because 25mph is almost the top speed of a DTR, so it's fitting. The accent color is Ford Silver Birch, the color of my first Marauder.

This is after 2 coats of Ford Silver Birch and masked up and ready for the DTR paint.

And here is the finished sign with three coats of DTR.

Cool! Is it hanging by your DTR key box in the garage?

In the morning it's going up next to the Marauder banner, the keybox is on the wall on the other side of the banner.

I picked up a slightly wrecked DTR last Tuesday, been rounding up parts here and there... Still can't find a nose piece after 5 junk yards. Uggg

I much prefer the speed limit signs on I-40
They read "What ever the weather permits"

I was driving at 125 in a rented Shelby Mustang as I read the signs. Joanne and I were driving from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, via the Hoover Dam. The entire trip took 3 hours...... do the math... I was flying... and cars were passing me.

Looks great, but what's the secret to getting a DTR to go that fast?

Down hill with a tail wind, I once got to 27 MPh. The car felt like it couldn't handle 30, so I slowed down.
