I needed another key blank and stock ones are still available but I found some very interesting combinations so I thought I would share my findings.
An integrated Key+Remote option. I found two configurations of these but I think this one is better because it is smaller. The key and key fob are integrated into one unit.

Two newer style folding keys. The fob and key blank are intergated. It uses the stock fob electronics. Since the key folds the overall size of the unit is smaller.

What bit? 8-32?
I don't think you will be able to encrypt those keys to our cars, try your local lock smith. Only 10 million bucks to get a key made ;)

Good luck getting these to fit far enough into the key slot collar.
Plus all ship from China.
Need I say more.

I had a flip key for my Crown Vic. It was an OEM key for the Ford Mondeo and is PATS so they key programmed fine, however the buttons on the fob are not the same and after about 2 hours with the IDS we finally gave up on trying to program them. I did have to complete shave off the collar on the plastic ignition cover to get it to fit. It did function great as a key, but I quit using it because I got tired of having to unlock the door with the key. I have since sold the car, and the new owner was happy to have the flip key.
