I called Whipple today after seeing all those beauties at Carlisle. Whipple denies ever making a unit for the Marauder, or any engine similar to the 4.6 32V-DOHC.
Was I having a bad acid moment or were there Whipple units on several cars at Carlisle?
I want to go this route. What do I order for the people who insist they don't make it????????
PS: I got the same answer from Kenne Bell!

It's a blower for a 2003-2004 cobra adapted to our cars.

whipple does not make a kit for marauders. pretty much a Eaton swap supersized. you will still need to hunt down parts and will need beefy internal parts
i do not know how much of the cobra kit is transferable to a marauder.

It's an easy peasy deal , basically an eaton swap with a Whipple S/C instead , nothing more, nothing less.

And as stated buy the Whipple for a 03-04 Cobra - listed right on their website

I already beefed the engine: heads-pistons-H-beam rods- cams and valves. The Stanless works long tube complete system and cold air kits round off the mods. It was natural for me to look at forced air induction next.
I'll put Rob at Stage 1 Performance on the case. His life is superchargers.

Go with he 2.3 Whipple. If you go bigger you will need to plan on swapping transmission not long after. I went with the 2.9 and it found any weak link I had. Mainly in the trans! Now I fixed where it won't do it again and went with a 4L80E.

That is the worst advice ever given.
The 2.9 is the most versatile SC ever made.

I believe a 2.3 will fit under a stock hood. A 3.4 or bigger will not. I'm not sure about a 2.9
Keep the boost low or the transmission will be toast.

Thanks all. I passed along the comments to Rob. I also have the Accufab larger TB so the Polished 2.3 Whipple allowing for this is the answer.
Now I have to find all of the other mods required for this install: intake intercooler, alternator relocating brackets, etc.

Speak to the Shermanator, Merc, and/or Blown3.8 about the Whipple. All were at Carlisle this year again as they have been for several years.
Sherm is running a 3.4 Whipple Crusher making 700+ HP on a built trans from ATS in Virginia on his '03 Black 300a.
Merc has a 2.3 Whipple on his '04 Silver Birch.
Check their member profiles and signatures for more info on their builds.

Hit up Lji372 for the brackets, He can get you what you need unless you can find eaton swap out here from someone. Zack above made a good point on the 2.9 being versatile. I have it and it runs more efficient than the 2.3 however the stock tranny couldn't hold it. I started running a 2.3 and switched 2.9, both will fit under the hood but you will need to do a little trimming behind the heat shield, no big deal tho. Below are Picts of my car.
2.3 topped at 553.00 RWHP

Congrats on the great buy!!!
Definately if going up in blower to 2.3 or 2.9 will need a trans built anything north of 500 rwhp will need it!
2.9 is the best choice for a street driven MM hands down!
Mine currently is a 2.3 and have a choice of putting on a 2.9 from my 2000 Fobra car as thats going 4.0 Whipple....so the 2.3 maybe up for grabs.

If I have a list, then can start to target my goal better.

I'm not trying to get max HP from the Marauder.
To scare myself, I have a '89 LX Fox body coupe with a 347 stroker with a Novi 2000 blower, a '93 GT-hatch with a 331 Stroker and a Vortech V-7, a 69 Shelby GT-500 with the Inglese 4 dual carbs configuration, and a '70 Boss 302 with dual 4 barrels. For fun on sunny days, there is the Factory Five Cobra kit car with the 427.
I just want the Marauder engine to look good.

The 2.3 would be perfect for what you're after. It'll give the 4 door the right kick in the pants and keep her in check.

Would the 2.9 Whipple work with my built trans.
The trans has a 9.5" Bracket Master 3,000 High Stall With Trans-Go Shift Kit
Koelene Drag Clutches with Kevlar Power / OD / Reverse Bands

There is no answer for that. I've seen plenty of built transmissions fall apart and even more stock ones hold up fine.

Ditto!! Mine was "built" also and it went on the dyno with the 2.9. This blower puts so much torque in so fast it overwhelms it. There's just not enough room to put bigger, stronger parts in. The 4L80 has more beef in it.

many of the members in my SAAC and Mustang clubs have level 10 transmissions.
Pat builds them to take incredible abuse at the track.
His best AOD tranny is approx $ 3500. It wrote the book on bullet proof.

Good photos and info about hood clearance for the larger blower. Any chance you could post the height of your blower from intake manifold to the area where you had to trim the hood? I would like to get a supercharger larger than 2.3L, any additional detail would be really helpful to know. A photo of where you cut the added clearance would be great.
Interesting comments on transmission longevity, heavy cars are hard on them. If the Silver Fox build doesn't hold up I guess I know what I have to do. :(
