I would like to upgrade one of my two 2003 MMs. The A model has 140k miles and the C has 30k miles, both are drivers. Seeking improved road and track performance not focusing on drag improvements, if they happen fine but not at the expense of road/track improvements. Want to take a stepped program approach. Can do a lot myself or with the assistance of friends but am open to using a speed/performance shop for the more complicated upgrades. Both cars are basically 100% stock now. I am leaning strongly toward upgrading the A model.
Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Detroit Tru-track or Ford Racing boss torsen unit (M-4204-MB)
is good for road race/track.

Perhaps a new torque converter and a transmission coooler.

^^^ what they said^^^.

Bigger brakes, that's a weak point in spirited driving on a road course or pleasure driving thru the hills or curvy roads, so I'm told.

Tires specific for this type of driving.

Mo power - root type supercharger (instant on).

The suspension parts as suggested, definitely bigger better brakes, and a tune for better transmission shifts. I would do these first because then it would hold the track better. More power can come later when you get used to how she handles. I have had the pleasure of running mine on a road course and it was the most fun I have ever had in a car. Good luck!

+1 on more power later. I think handling and braking mods are the way to go for just about any application besides a pure strip/track car.

I dream of this road course idea. I'm hoping to run the Targa Newfoundland one day. Probably gonna be 5 years out, but I'mm gonna try like hell to get there.

I'd do the mods in this order...

1 - Get a tuner and tune from Mo's

2 - Upgrade the suspension, Addco front and rear sway bars, Metco Upper and Lower rear control arms, Metco Watts link, Metco driveshaft hoop (cheap insurance)

3 - 4.10 gears (Mo's can add that tune in the tuner)

4 - Better brakes. I'm partial to TCE's +1 kit. (http://www.tceperformanceproducts.com/marauder/kits-17/)
