No,I didn't.In fact on the way home my wife asked how much he wanted. It was just so hot, that I left without even talking to the guy...I'm sure he wanted top dollar..He had one of those big boards with all his awards and info..But,I'm pretty sure that he's local to Myrtle Beach area..Next time I see the car at a show I'll get all the pertinent info..

Could be JoanB/GordonB. They are in that area now since they left CAMland several years ago. If the DBP had a moonroof (aftermarket), it would be Joan's car. Always very clean and took many awards at Safford Lincoln-Mercury show in June every year near Silver Spring, MD. GordonB had a DTR and was a member of the Corvette Club of Maryland. Both GordonB and JoanB were members here going back to the early days of MM.Net; but haven't seen or heard them post for a long time since their move.

One of the few DBP's with a moonroof since it was not an option in 2003. All Blue MMs are '03 models (300B). The 2MHHM moonroof VIN didn't appear until the 2004 model.

It would be Joan's car. It is the only DBP I am aware of in the MB area. She lives a couple miles from me. I have their number if you interested. PM me.

bugsyc, rayjay, Bluerauder, et al,
Yes, you saw our Blue MM last weekend at Judd Kuhn Chev. We are selling Blue and asking $7995; ad went in The Sun News locally this weekend. Still plan to keep the '04 DTR MM. Have 4 cars in a 3-car garage and need some space. Two cars are double bunked on a lift.
If anyone is interested, I'm placing an ad in the For Sale Section here. Can PM me, call me at 843-796-1950, or email me at gandjbottom@sc.rr.com.
We miss the MM gatherings Charlie! But ... we love it down here out of the ice and snow.

Ms. Denmark,
Great to hear from you all. We are enjoying life in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Come on down for a visit. Have plenty of space, but NOT in the garage!

Thanks! If we get down your way Eric and I will definitely enjoy a chance to see you both. Maybe you can make it to MV in Cleveland?

We drove to CT a few weeks ago for my daughters wedding. That didn't go so well, pain level wise. I had a injection since and have a wedding in central NYS the end of this month. After that I will know if I can do Cleveland or not. Right now I am guessing no, unfortunately. We would like to come, but if its going to take me 2+ days to recover once we are there, no point in it. :(

Pretty upset little lady here in KC since you backed out AFTER the deposit she sent
It's really sad to see on this end how some really good friends wishes, dreams and ambitions get tossed aside after the dust settles.
This actually makes me trust less of the marauder community, I read the emails from day 1 and had forwarded the for sale link to Neil within minutes of its posting.
Pretty sad, I would expect these shenanigans from a young couple, not senior citizens

Sorry that things didn't work out for your friend. I'm sure that was disappointing but I'd say please don't make such negative assumptions about people you don't know. Take a look at Gordon's join date. He and Joan have been part of the mm.net family since 2003 and were some of the first to welcome me in 2008. They were very active in the club before moving south. You won't find any better people than Joan and Gordon and since they have loved and cared for not one but two Marauders for all these years they have simply had a change of heart.

It doesn't sound like he's making assumptions, there was a deposit made on a purchase and the seller backed out. The buyer is disappointed that a car that was for sale suddenly isn't after an agreement was made with a deposit. I don't see what the join date of a member has to do with it, backing out like that isn't the right thing to do.

^^^^This x1000, I don't care who's friends with who, a deal is a deal, if you change your mind after a deposit, then the seller is the one with the issue. Look at it like this, say Neil made a deposit and then changed his mind, the seller would want to keep the deposit. But it's ok for the seller to back out and the buyer has no recourse?????
All we have in this world is our word, if your word is no good......then what do you have?
If the seller would have pulled the ad before a deposit and a deal were made, that's one thing, but after the fact......not so good. And then all the sellers pals chime in on how they are great people etc., that has nothing to do with a business transaction......but hey, business as usual on .net.

I believe the moral of this story is be sure you really want to part with something before you list it. If you are even a tad unsure, don't post it.

I've regretted selling every car I've owned except for one. I once sold a car on Ebay with no reserve, it sold for half its value. Did I back out of the deal and then hide? Nope, I sold the car and moved on.

The sale should have been honored. Like I said, don't list unless you are sure you want to part with it.

Gordon has a email from my wife, the purchaser, with her cell phone number if he and Joan choose to respond. While I may have orchestrated this purchase, it was Kelly's decision and her car. I expect an answer. I have remained quiet for the past few days because nothing I say or do will change the outcome. However, I will say that this ordeal despite tension and frustration has cost us paypal fees to send the deposit which was not addressed. It has also caused a local friend of ours that agreed to purchase Kelly's low mile black MM frustration and made us look bad. You just don't tell someone the deposit is accepted and the car is reserved for you, then back out. Your word is your bond. Spectragod nailed it. If we backed out on the purchase on our end, we would have been out 500 bux. I am glad we didnt send the whole amount upfront! Now I am out paypal fees, and upset wife, and upset close friend, and well......... yeah, no car. The people that have PM'ed and posted thank you. The people that defend this type of behavior... EA, you know the rest.

I agree with the beginning of your post, I know you were super helpful prior to the sale. This is not directed towards you...
Pretty much this thread isn't about listing a car and having second thoughts, it's more about ACCEPTING a deposit and pushing the full payment ( holiday) Then backing out of the deal via email and not have the decency to make a phone call and explain yourself to a buyer why you don't honor the sale
Even better yet LOL, someone trying to defend them. Wow. I deal with facts not assumptions. I've known Neil for over 20 plus years and see him 2-3 times per week. I'm going to stick up for friends I KNOW and SEE on a regular basis
Not bound to marauders, but actual friends I see and know not Internet or distant friends.
Like I said, less and less

Weird. No phone call. Disrespect to the fullest. See you in Cleveland. A 12 hour drive is worth it to put a face to a name, shake a hand, and hopefully find out what this was all about. Should be interesting. Anybody want to bunk with tagalong and I late Friday, and Saturday night for MV whatever number it is? Party. Either way, Cleveland ROCKS.

Hope you are reading this mm.net. I'm confused...someone reneged on a private sale, and you're blaming the site??
8UWITH6
07-23-2016, 07:26 PM
Let me clear up your confusion..........
No, not at all. Certain members from the site have attempted to defend the seller saying this type of behavior is "okay" because they have been a member since 2003 and they are "stand up people". I am simply stating read about the situation and learn from it. Nothing more, nothing less. On the other hand I have received multiple texts and private messages about cars for sale, and people generally wanting to help in any way possible. THIS, is what makes me continue to participate and care about most members here in our community.

The actual owner said no to the sale. The car never should have never been offered if the actual owner was not 100% in and the buyer got screwed over. The saying if it looks to good to be true kind of applies here too.
