I just got home from work and was remembering a few of you guys commenting on what aftermarket rims may or may not look good on an MM.

Someone referenced the SHM wheels which IMHO look horrendeous on this car, there more for a Benz or Beemer imo.

So I jumped into PS7 and went into the "chop shop" and put these 20 inchers with some fatty's in the back along with a with a 2.5 inch drop, window tint along with a front emblem removal.

What do you think.

Ill be doing some more shots from different angles with different rims over the next few days.

Hmm... no...

Needs rims that are more 'sharp', not as rounded off. Other than that it's badass.

Wow that looks great. However, I dont think those wide rears can fit without sticking out of the wheel wells.

Thats the beauty of PS7. LOL!

I may even do a pro-street tubbed MM over the weekend just to see what it looks like.

Heres another shot from another angle with a 2.5 inch drop slightly fatter tires and 18 inch chrome Cobra R's.

I agree that the front looks GREAT "blacked-out"...So...here's the question....can you get a plain black grill and then just change the rear badge to a Mercury godhead? Any of you CV guys know?

The pics look great! Especially the ones with the "plain" grill.

But I prefer the stock wheels.

I like the plain grill, but I also like the red and black wave a lot better than the one it came with!

Your pretty good with that photoshop!

i really need to lower my car...............

ONEBADMK8
01-02-2003, 11:46 AM
Oh yes, lower it for sure, the handeling really comes to life to say the least.

Eibach 2wd F-150 front springs then you have to get the rear springs done custom, either custom wound or heat treated.

Far cheaper then Sean Hypeland springs.

Heres what the grill emblem that Im working on looks like as of now.

I am NOT selling this emblem, Im making one for someone as a custom one off deal.

Thanks for the Photoshop compliment, thats my side gig.

Onebadmk8,

The 2003 front suspension is totally new. The F150 springs don't fit any more and would be brutally stiff if they did. The Marauder has already been lowered to compensate for the 18 inch wheels and doesn't have a huge amount of wheel travel left. Dropping the car much more will look nice but hurt ride and reduce durability--maybe bend those 50 series wheels. On the exhaust, the engine is very similar to the Mark VIII, but the stock exhaust is much less convoluted and restricted.

ALSO.....the Marauder has rear AIR suspension....I lowered mine by adjusting the rear height sensor outboard just a little :cool4:

dropped it just over an inch...now it just covers the top of the rear tire...makes it look fatter :beatnik:

I do like the look of the BULLITT wheels :uzi:

what about the 2000 Cobra R wheels??? thinner spokes show our brakes better

:burnout:

You have to replace the air bags for the full spring effect.

Trust me on the exhaust there both on the fairly restrictive side. The Marauders is less restrictive then the Marks but still restrictive non the less.

A real system with the right piping and xing will make a fairly dramatic difference.

Anyone know what the offset is for the Bullet wheels? From ford they are 17" but I've seen them in magazines at 18"

BINGO! That's the wheel I've been looking for.

KSMM03
01-03-2003, 10:17 AM
If those are the ARE TorqThrust II's (5 lug as opposed to the TorqThrust ST and 6 lug I had pasted) the minimum backspace is 3 3/4" and maximum is 4 3/4". They would have to be made as they're not a stocked item. I guess the question is not what our offset is, cuz I don't think we have one, but what the backspace for our wheels are.

Anyone know??

"I lowered mine by adjusting the rear height sensor outboard just a little"

How do you do this?

ONEBADMK8
01-04-2003, 09:55 PM
Im using the MK8 as a reference in this pic but it will help explain the procedure non the less.

http://www.markviii.org/LOD2/suspension/rearsensordiagram.gif

Imagine what would happen if you were to raise the frame of the vehicle, or if the wheel attached to the suspension arm were to move downward. Vehicle height would raise and the sensors would compress.

This would cause the car to think it was high and therefore vent air from the bags making the car sit lower. The reason the rear is different is because it is a different sensor.

ONEBGADMK8;

Your hockey stick colored emblem is outstanding. Maybe commercial fabricators could do them if they had enough interest.

Since you have posted this on a public form and I assume no patent then the design can be used by others (I think).

I'm wondering if Daniel Hall at Colex, a vendor here that makes these kinds of things, would be interested?

Would you mind if I contacted him about a possible run on these badges?

Whoa, the grille badge seems to be a derivitive of the one on the Linclon Motor sports web page. They will be offering things for the Marauder soon it seems.

Is that where Daniel is hanging his hat now? I noticed that grille and trunk badges are not listed on Colex's web page only engine compartment caps and covers. Probably left over inventory.

Anyway Linclon Motor sports may supplant Colex.

Yeah its been that way for a long long time.

Yet i dont think his webpage has been updated. I was going to give him a call and see if he'd do an exhaust for my car seeing as he is in NJ.

RIck can you post some side pics of your car? I like the bullitt wheels like above, w/ the polished lip, but I would want 18s instead of 20s too, to keep the ghetto factor down

Ghetto factor  Its not like you have a wad of bling that keeps spinning here, its probably the only design wheels I can think of that doesn't look ghetto when in 20s. And nicely filling the wheel well. :shake:

The spotlight is for chasing the perps, not being one!! So it does also minimize the ghetto factor!

Come on, half inch tall sidewalls on this car look flat out rediculous, even though the wheel style itself is attractive. A sidwall that short does not say "serious performance enthusiast".

I agree. I really like how my 20" black bullitts look on my car. The only thing I would do is drop the front a hair.
