I have an issue after washing the Marauder. The trunk lid or rear lights attached to lid seems to hold water inside. My Grand marquis did the same if I remember right.

I wave the lid up and down and quite a bit of water comes out, wipe my bumper down again, raise the trunk lid and more big drops... Is this common? Is there a drain hole blocked?

Also, while wiping down the door jambs I came across a good strip of rust on the left rear driver side door, very bottom lip. Couldn't believe it. I'd say it's half way through but can't be seen from the outside, yet.

Anyone else have this rust in the same area? I guess I get to try my hand at bodywork. At least you can't see it from the outside.

Jason.

Jason.Try some Neutra-Rust, may slow it down a little. I've got a bubble developing on my 04, L/F fender on the lip edge of wheel well, directly above tire.:(

Water gets trapped behind the trunk facia, I'm on my third panther...they all do it. I've never had water enter the trunk.

Yes, it has happened on my CVs and MMs. Seems to be a common issue with the Panther platform.

I had the rust issue on the left rear door also and had it repaired but now it's come back again. Is there a permanent fix for this once the rust is repaired again?

Rust is like cancer, you have to cut it all out or it will return.

How was the rust repaired? The proper way is to have the rusty spot cut out to "good" metal then a new patch panel welded in. After refinishing and painting I'd coat the inside of the new panel with something like POR 15.

The repair was done by a reputable shop that I have used many times before but come to think of it, I don't think any patch panels were used. What is the "engineering screw up" (post 2) that causes it to rust? The other doors don't show rust there.

Check the vents at the bottom of the doors. Some times they are taped over.

if the rust was just bondo over, it returns. it must be 100% removed or it returns, especially an area that gefs wet.
