:violin:

So I have looked at other threads and believe that this is my blend door actuator based on what some other users have said, but wanted to check and see if anyone had any additional input - and any input would be greatly appreciated.

About a week ago my MM started exhibiting a loud clicking sound when the AC was on - even when I turned the AC off, it would still happen, it would just behave differently (pattern would change, would get more quiet, etc.) and eventually go away. It would also eventually go away, come back, go away etc. with the AC left on. Here is a video of the sound I took a few days ago:
https://youtu.be/63JclWNshMI

Today, the clicking business started happening and then all of the sudden the air went from cold to super heated (100+ outside) so I turned it off, and it will still blow air normally but it will not blow cold air. I did the self diagnostic test and got code 024 back.

I have read that replacing the blend door deal is a pita - is this where I should start given the series of events? :shake:

Thanks

Spend 50 bux on the part, cheat the normal way of pulling the dash and pull the passenger side air bag, glove box, pass side hvac tube and cuss and swear your way through it. Or pay a shop 500 to pull the dash.

Very familiar sound, that's the sound of a stripped gear inside the blend door actuator

I would look on YouTube for a video how to do it, I did my dads SB blend door actuator about 2 weeks ago

I did not pull the dash, unplug the cars battery cables
Pull the glove box, the dot matrix trim, the air bag, the RH vent and big tube

Now you have access to the 3 screws that hold the actuator in place, I ground down a 8mm socket to get more room. It's tight. The actuator has 4 holes, the farthest one is just a pedestal

The actuator out of there, gently move the angle rod that is your door rod, make sure it's free moving

I cut one of the holes into a u on the new actuator, that way it slips into the screw I just put in 1/2 way. Line up the door rod to your new actuator and bolt it all back together

I used rock auto. I believe the part was 23.00

OK awesome - thanks for the advice and quick replies guys. I'll figure out the part and get going once I have it

I'd run the EATC self-test first. It may clear up the problem for the time being and if the Blend Door Actuator is bad it will generate a code.

Your nest question will be "How do I do the EATC self test"
