My evaporateive coil keeps freezing. Has anyone else had this problem?

You likely have moisture in the system , has it ever been opened or serviced recently? The other possibility is the expansion valve / orifice tube may even be clogged with debris causing a flow issue. Can you see the lines physically freezing as well? Low freon can cause the suction line to freeze up.

It freezes up when low on Freon too.

Is the evap drain plugged?

A low refrigerant charge can cause the evaporator to freeze the condensation on it. If the drain is open you likely need to add refrigerant.

The best response would be to take it to a professional shop and have the system tested for leaks and recharged. If you insist on buying a can of DIY refrigerant, DON'T get the one with stop-leak, it will just bung up your system and need more expensive repairs.

Agree 100% on not using stop leak.. the ac accumulator is a high leak area Check for heavy rust
