As I previously stated I was having problems with ground wire getting Hot (firewall to passenger rear of engine). It had melted lines close by. I replaced that wire with 1 I took of a crown vic, thicker wire. Charged battery and it turned over fine, that wire no longer hot. This time I noticed smoke coming from by battery. The ground wire that runs from battery terminal to fender was very Hot and starting to melting... I know nothing about electronic issues and dont know where to go from here... Car eventually stop turning over:help:

Sounds like a dead short somewhere

Maybe a short.

Most likely either a bad corroded connection or a bad cable.

The four main grounds in the engine compartment are the negative battery terminal, passenger side cam cove to firewall, negative cable to passenger side fender (near the battery) and negative battery terminal to the front of the block.

I'm willing to bet that the engine bock connection is the problem. If it's not good then all the grounding will go thru the firewall and fender cables which aren't of sufficient gauge to handle the load.

You're talking about the ground that connects to the front of block(top passenger side)? If so it seem to be screwed down tight:dunno:

On all the MM's I've seen the battery to block ground is down low. Make sure it's clean and tight.

How are the battery terminals?

You could also have corrosion inside the cable. Use and Ohm meter to check them. You should have very little resistance.

I wanna go ahead and just replace wire assembly for alt,battery,starter.... where can i buy new... or would CV/GM interchange?CV battery cable is the same except for where it attaches to the cam cover bolts. Marauder cable is obsolete. I have a new CV / GM cable assy in the garage for mine. Got it from www.tascaparts.com.
