Hey guys, i was wondering if i may have a tranny that may be on its way out, or maybe its something else.
Heres the problem:
It seems to happen after driving on a highway, or any amount of time with out stopping for a while. When i finally come to a stop and give it gas, the rpm's go up then just abbruptly shift into gear. I almost feels like a trann slip, but it doesnt. SOmetimes the rpm's go up to 2-2.5k and then i just catches into gear and goes. It doesnt clunk, or anything like that, its just a harsh takeoff and it worries me a bit.
My only tranny "mods" are the sct tuner and a tranny cooler, and the tranny fluid level is acurate. Ive checked that time and time again. Any info on this would be great!

frank, I'd say it's a good possibility it's the transmission. Maybe it could be the Torque converter, but that's just a wild guess on my part. If it does that atleast once daily, then I'd bring it to the dealer.

Shifter cable out of adjustment?
if the cable would cause this, it may be the thing, because i have the reverse engagement issue as well. Billy, it doesnt happen daily, just 2-3 times a week, its not 100% repeatable, which kinda bugs me!!

That pretty much addresses it, then... chances are once you get the cable adjusted properly, things should settle down.
For the same reasons discussed in the other thread (I forgot it was you who mentioned that problem), if the valve body isn't completely convinced it should be feeding pressure to certain areas of the tranny, you may experience weirdness.

If it's what I think you're describing, it happened to me once or twice and was the product of a very rare set of coincidences...
Essentially, I was slowing down to a stop sign and the tranny was doing its usual 3-2 downshift, and *just* as it was going to do its 2-1, I got off the brakes and back on the gas. I know... not a very good complete stop, no excuses from me here.
Anyway, the car did its 2-1 downshift just as I got back on the power, and almost immediately went back to 2nd. The result was a jerky acceleration (ie. the car multiplied more torque in 1st than in 2nd, and it kind of lurched forward as if I was being too aggressive on the launch... the kind that would have your wife looking at you with that look.
If this isn't what happened, then there may be other issues... cable adjustment or perhaps harness chafing/shorting...

Pull the SCT custom tune out and drive it just to see if the problem goes away. Then you'll know it's not the programmer.
