View Full Version : Seat covers in Flint for the MM
Our cars have lasted past the service life of many items, seat covers being one and FLM no longer stocks the leather seat covers in flint.
A check with some retailers of aftermarket seat cover kits revealed that the Marauder model was not included.
So it looks like I need to go to an upholstery shop and have a set custom made.
Before I commit to that course of action does anyone have or know where I can obtain a complete set of leather seat covers in flint?
Thanks,
Pat

West coast member lifespeed had his driver seat bottom redone locally with additional bolstering. the material match was right on based on pics. His is in light flint too.
I visited the upholster/trim shop today and dealt with the owner, Mr. Caldwell and he advised me to just get the torn/worn panels replaced. The rear seat just has one scuff streak which I'm going to ignore.
He either has the material in stock (in the warehouse) or can obtain it quickly - Light Flint, applicable to the Grand Marquis and Marauder, so reads the label on the sample book. He checked the sample on the car. Looks good to me.
The cost, $1,210.00, is still high for me, since I'm retired, on a fixed income and social security.
The car still needs a couple of more items, the light switch panel and the mechanism that returns the turn signal. Nit-noy pieces.
I think Silverback is entering another repair cycle.
Still worth it by far.

What all was he going to repair/ replace for that amount?

I would try and take the seat covers off and save on labor. I'm assuming that the quoted 1200 plus is for removal and installation of the fixed covers.

Mr. T, the price was for material and labor to replace 9 panels in both front seats, (5 on DS, 4 on PS) "repack" a deformed drivers seat, bottom. Restitch panels that were separating (both FS bottoms and tops, the perforated center pieces. Coffee is free.
Hope this helps those that are considering like repairs.

I would ask for references and for that price I would ask to see some samples of similar work. Good luck.

Price seems spot on for that level of repair, that is a lot of labor, plus materials, it actually seems on the low side of things.
