View Full Version : DBP cuts out when accelerating from a stop right hand turns only

As the title says my blue is acting funny. Right hand turns only, from a stop. Fuel pressure cuts out from 40psi to 9psi but comes right back. Does not stall. Just bucks and noses over. Fuel tank is not empty. I haven't had time to check anything yet just wanted to get a post up for discussion of possible causes. It has done it in the past verrrry intermittently. I was able to replicate it multiple times yesterday during multiple drive cycles.
Just pull the pump and you'll probably find your answer.
You can monitor fuel pump voltage as well.

Lol. I said I'd trade u my DTR that has 3 times the miles, that means it's reliable. LOL
Did it do it this morning? That pump is 2 years old......

Great. I can accept that. But why turning right?!?

Only UPS trucks make right turns, be different....turn left.
It is possible that there are multiple problems, have you verified you have no chafed wires on the back of the motor (not that I am doubting Zack), just wanting to cover all bases............

Fuel moving to the side in the tank exposing a small hole in the line somewhere between the top of the tank and the pump causing it to suck air?

Don't forget to ask what gap you need on those plugs, and might as well ask if 4.10 gears really help out much

Chaffed wires would be my bet... unless you have not upgraded your fuel pump...

Aeromotive in tank pump for the eaton swap. It did not act up on the way to work this morning. You know this issue has been happening since the left rear quarter was replaced 2 years ago. I'm going to inspect the inertia switch wiring.

Did you delete the little square deal on the fuel pump sender inline with the pump when you upgraded it? I did, like I always did on my Cobras, and my tuner said it causes it not to hold pressure as well. Mine does the same as yours, especially when it's super hot outside.

07-26-2016, 06:22 AM
This piece..
Also makes it have to crank a bit extra to start.. It's done on the cobras due to the manual transmissions.. Which I didn't think about when I deleted mine on the marauder.

Mine has hesitated on occasion for a couple of years now. It happens on a left-hand turn for me, and from a stop. And the funny thing, it happens at the same location. It's a turn I make every day. It doesn't happen every time, or even most of the time, but it's still peculiar that it happens at the same spot. I'm all stock except for a tune, cold-air and 4.10s.

Does it have to crank a little longer than an N/A stock one would? IF so, could be your problem as well. Especially in this hot weather.

Could it be the float in your carburetor not filling the bowl?
Turning the corner would make the main jets suck air and cause a stumble...;)

On wife's 300A it started doing that very thing on right turns. Fuel pressure was dropping. I changed the pump, still problem. Peeled back the left side trunk carpet and tapped on the fuel pump driver module. Guess what? Intermittent fuel pressure drop. Changed FPDM and problem went away. Fuel pump was probably fine.

Diagnosis at my house is inspecting wires. Drink a beer. Talk about what to do next. Drink a beer. Call Jaydees to bring over his spare FPDM. Drink beer waiting for him. When he shows up with the part look at it and say hold my beer while I get in the trunk. Replace part. Cannot test drive because............ Diagnosis.

Yeah I've heard about the issues as well. I run two of the aeromotives, ones three and half years old and whisper quiet. When I went return fuel a year ago last March I added a second and it sounded (and still does) like it has sand in it.. So far both have performed flawless.
