my mechanic says i need one on the wifes 03 vic. however he says the part is $175.00. does this sound a bit high?

The most expensive one on Rock Auto goes for $40, so I hope your mechanic's price is including labour...

Well, tascaparts lists the hose for $118, with an MSRP of $170. Tell your mechanic if you wanted to pay full dealer price, you'd take it to the dealer...
