Busted trunk rod/ spring on DTR

A few weeks back one of the rods that lifts the trunk, snapped and the trunk is super heavy to pull

I puller some used rods out of my parts car MM

What's the best way to install them, I kinda boogered up the parts car getting these 2 good rods out

They were a pita to remove

Any tips from someone who has replaced em?
