I would like to add a new power point somewhere under the dash. Can any of you Marauder-Electrictronics knowlegable people tell me the best place to pick up 14V without tearing out the dash or getting into a lead tied to a computer ? I don't want to screw up one of the on board computers by hooking up a laptop or gps to some lead I shouldn't have! :shake: Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! :help:

I think the best thing to do would be pick up the power from the outlet in the console,I know it stays hot with the engine off.I'm not sure it the cigerrette lighter is hot key off.
More than likly you will have to at least remove the gauges under the dash.

something tells me for accessories, the easiest power is the red wire on the gas pedal position cylinder, the one that makes the pedals move in and out... it is easy to see under the dash, to the right of the gas pedal

You asked best, not easiest. You cannot go wrong or screw anything up if you take your power directly from battery and add in-line fuse of appropiate size to your needs.

Cutting and splicing wires under dash can cause serious problems if you cut into wrong circuit, so that would be my advise.

Smokie is right. 12 ga. wire straight to batt. [w/ 15 amp fuse].

Hello, This is what I did when I added the third working gauge in the console, displacing my powerpoint/lighter. We relocated the stock lighter socket to the right side of that console. You could do the same thing, pick up a power outlet at radio shack for 5 bucks, dremmel the proper sized hole, and install your new socket. The best thing is, you can tie into your exhisting outlet for small items, or go directly to the battery for heavy duty applications. I attatched pictures to help with locations....

FANTASTIC! I knew I could get some good suggestions from you guys!... Love this net! I had thought about going straight to the battery but haven't figured out a good place to come in through the firewall. Thanks again! :bows: Bill
