My 2003, all original baby got rear ended last Friday. The Honda accord went under my car and greatly messed up the driver side exhaust (including tip), messed up the bottom of the trunk, and goofed the gas tank around. Couldn't drive the car home because it immediately started running on four cylinders and very erratically. Check engine light was on instantaneously.
Any advice on how to deal with the insurance adjuster? You know they are not going to see this as an up and coming collectible. Probably going to need help with attaining parts.

99.6% chance it will totaled. Buy it back and fix it after they give you $ for it. Word of advice, do your own market value analysis for top dollar.
Sorry for the loss and glad you are okay.

I was sore for a couple of days. The joys of being 58. People my age and older shouldn't be bounced around.
Thanks.

Don't have any of the underneath. I didn't feel safe spending any amount of time laying on the ground in the left emergency lane of the interstate. The pic below shows the driver side exhaust is no longer visible. It is pushed back and up behind the bumper. The Honda Accord looks very, very sick.
I take that back. Looks like an easy fix

I hope so. Bottom of trunk is crushed in. Driver side exhaust is going to have to be replaced back over the rear end. Gas tank needs some attention. I'm crossing my fingers on being able to maintain a good looking exhaust tip.
Friend of mine, that owns a body shop, just told me about one he had that was only going to cost $3,300 to repair and the insurance company totaled it.

+1 on the easy fix. Very little paint work would be needed based on the picture. Exhaust probably got smashed shut on the drivers side causing the running problems/check engine light.

I have 4 oem tips if you need to buy one, I also have a wrecked 03 marauder if you need rear parts
Take as much $$$$.$$ as HIS insurance company will give you, fix it.
So how many miles are on it? 03 or 04?
I bet the frame will need work, definitely put it on a lift and look for mashed up parts ASAP Take pics
Look above the rear axle and make sure the frame isn't bent at the hoop, last rear ended one I stripped , the frame folded over there, and the frame is not strong for impact. Thank goodness it was only a import, if it was a truck your rear 1/4 panels would be wrinkled
Glad your ok

You've got that right^^^.
If they total it, don't be afraid to walk away from the first, or even second, offer. You can get a much better amount in every single case. I've held out for two months to get it where it should be. And, if you can buy the car back, the salvage auction price around here would have it between $750 and $1500.
If they repair it, look all the way up to the front including the manifolds. That was a nasty little smack. It very easily could have slightly twisted the frame. Best of luck to you.

Sorry to see this. Hopefully insurance doesn't total it.

Thanks. My guys will be looking at the car and the opinion rendered will not be just from the insurance company adjusters.

If I do this, it will reach the ground...if I'm lucky. Otherwise, it will have a very large hole.

The sheetmetal is NOT structural. The damage can be cut and replaced with NO evidence from the outside. Deal, deal, DEAL with insurance. It was THEIR fault. Fix and save this.

Hope everything works out , I went through the same thing 2 yrs ago but I'm lucky as the collision shop owner did some creative bookkeeping so it came under budget

Took some educating and doing, but the insurance company agreed to repair my car. I should be getting it back this weekend. They priced out replacing a lot of parts with after-market parts that didn't exist. My shop guy (and very good friend) convinced them to supplement the initial offer and helped with them seeing the car as a Marauder and not a Grand Marquis. Instead of using aftermarket crap, we either obtained Crown Vic or Grand Marquis pieces that would work from a couple of junkyards. We repaired the exhaust. Thankfully, the exhaust tips were okay. I saved some money by helping with the labor and parts acquisition. I'll post up before and after pics when I get it back.:banana::banana:

Glad to hear this. Figured it would be a easy fix. They didn't total mine when the quarter got bashed in and I had to fight for an OEM quarter on top of lots of other stuff. All said and done repairs where very expensive, but done properly.

And the bumper is not cut. Finding a bumper can be difficult. They should be able to repair yours.

Glad to hear you were made whole. Too many Marauders end up on Co-part because people don't care...

They initially were going to total mine without looking at it. Told me they were going to take it to Copart. I used Copart's estimated retail prices of the Marauders they had listed to prove getting mine fixed was cost effective. It worked.
