View Full Version : Fog lites intermittent

Any time I select one of the switch/knob positions to activate the fog lamps, they either work or they don't.

Once on they stay on until commanded off. I've replaced the dash switch, no help.

Lighting module perhaps? I changed mine a few years ago for wacky headlights.

Any one else experienced this problem?

Thanks

I'm having a similar issue, now they won't turn on at all.

Checked the fuse and relay and they are both good. My next thing to check is the dash switch, because when I pull the knob to turn the fogs on the light that indicates the fogs are on (on dash switch) don't come on.

Battery Junction Box...the one with the fuses and relays right next to the battery.

Owner's manual calls it the Power Distribution Box...

Got it, that what's it's called, power distribution box. I thought it was a typo.

I'll be getting one tomorrow.

I'm frying chicken now.

Thanks,

Marauder-fans,

Ford Co. has a voluntary program to provide and install new lighting relay box that is located above the throttle pedal. It is advertised on the web, but it is advertised for the Grand Marquis and the Crown Victoria, not the Marauder, but the VIN on Marauders have certain numbers that connect it with the Grand Marquis. I've had headlight troubles with both of my silver Marauders; one stock, one Vortech and much nicer with lots of upgrades and improvements.

So, all you out there with unreliable head lights, call Ford customer service at 866 436 7332 and give them your VIN. The relays in side the black box go bad and usually they have intermittent problems and then they go "belly up" months or a few years later. That is what I've experienced and many other people too. LCM, I think, lighting control module is 200 + so Ford in providing new ones and having them installed. If yours has worked o.k., well, it is a matter of time. So, a "little white lie" that your headlights blink off and on from time to time would't be totally the wrong thing, because 100:1 it will happen soon if it hasn't happened yet.

My first post. 2 silver '04 MM. One flint and sunroof; one charcoal with Vortech, water/alky injection, stainless brakes, re-finished wheels, new Coopers RS3, post gauges, alloy rear suspension elements. Soon to have stainless headers and audiophile stereo. '70 Torino Type NW, 75 Bronco restored; '03 T-Bird, '06 250 diesel, '37 Ford 2 dr. flatback: my grandfathers car!, '92 E-250 motor home conversion, '89 Taurus SHO .. one of the first. Piper Comanche 250 '64. Semper Fi, Marine RF-4B Phantom II what a great plane. I've owned tons of cars, nothing like the Marauder. Yours, Lance

Your info is a day late and a dollar short, but thanks anyway and welcome to the site.

Pat, Definitely check the relay. Swap it with one close by.

BTW... the foglights only work when the key is in the RUN position.

I will replace it with OEM next payday, 1 Sept.
These things are not cheap.

FBM yeah, the car was running. Thanks for the tip.

Check the grounds for the lights.
My left one stopped working cause the ground was bad.
Fixed it and it works again.

I've experienced a number of foglight harnesses that have had a corroded ground wire.

I had my lighting module replaced at a Ford dealership many months ago. My taillights
were out completely and no cluster lights.

Thanks FBM, the relay you sent me, K207, fixed the problem. The fog lights come on when commanded.

Also thanks to RF Overlord for correctly troubleshooting the problem.

Car also runs faster now too. (what was in that relay?)

Factory must have installed a relay meant for a DTR...
